well im just back from tescos and on a high! walked straight passed the smoking counter without even thinking about it! im so glad im not smoking today. ive stopped feeling guilty about last night - i just know that people do sily silly things when they have had a little too much to drink and so i need to have a couple of months off of the wine until i feel strong enough not to smoke!

think of the money il save not going to the pub!

    Hi All,

I'm a bit embarressed if im honest :o i posted on here a year ago (when Lula was here, well done Lula ) and failed miserably - i lasted from the end of May until September - then found out that H was a cheating ******* and left him, ended up saying "i need a fag" and off i went to the shop and bought some - have been smoking ever since and its gradually increasing - used to smoke 30 or so a week, now its nearer 50 if im honest :o

But, ive had tonsillitis (and been quite poorly) since Wednesday night - the last cigarette i had was at work on Weds at about 3pm - and i am getting over the illness and feeling much better and am wondering if this is the start that i need to give up.

I mean, ive gone 4 days already and until today (when i realised how long it had been) i havent thought about having a cigarette.

I have an unopened pack of 20 in my hand bag but am thinking that when i get home i will just put those into a drawer and leave them there - i know i can give up for months on end and then all of a sudden start again so i really need to be focussing on the long term goal i guess.

Anyway, if you are still reading thank you :T and im here to try again if you will have me :o

Have got the ds smoking game thing but im not sure how good it is, does anyone know if it is worth playing?

Hiya Puzzled!! Just been speaking to you on tother thread! :D OK, so you didn't make it last time, no need to be embarressed, the main thing is, you're back and tempted to really take advantage of the tonsilitus. Go on Puzzled, give it another go while you already have some days 'done'! A shame to hear about the ****** (!!) but best off without him and moving on with life. You did so well in getting all that time behind you last time, so you know you CAN do it, do your level best Puzzled and see if you too can have the pride Lula now has! I wish you all you'd wish yourself....to be smoke-free!!!

You're doing great funkymonkey, be proud of each little achievement, stick to it and build it in to a great success!!! You've already had some terrific advice, keep the words of others in mind whenever you're tempted!

larmy, that was a brilliant post, now we need to get you through it all, that would be fantastic, and as you well know....it CAN be done! One day at a time larmy, and it'll happen, you'll get past those times when you normally would buckle. Maybe this is the time you'll stay free for good! I do so hope so!

Must go, tea beckons and I'm starving!

I'm new to this website, and I saw this thread. I've been trying now to stop smoking, and I've been fag-free (for want of a better word) for a month and a half now. I feel so proud of myself. I don't know what it is, but somehow I feel a lot healthier, my clothes don't smell, and I can walk past the cigarette counter in my local supermarket without thinking "I'd better buy a pack."

Hi again little lily! You have been superb in achieving all that, I can't believe it's been 7 months now. Many congratulations on such a great success!:T

Congratulations to you too andyc225! I know what you mean and you're right it's indescribable, but the feeling of pure good health floods over you and you can barely believe you made it and finally became fag-free (sounds a good enough way to describe it to me!;)). Keep at it, you've come a long way!! :T
Thanks for your post geekinaseat, it's always great to hear from those who have succeeded. You've every reason to be so proud, very well done! :T

I'm so pleased to hear you managed to stay free from smoking dizzybee, well done! I'm also glad those patches are suiting you, quite a relief after the others.

Another fresh week coming up all, another step closer to your goal and you so deserve to get there, but one day at a time. All the best, folk!

    Thanks Sue :D

I am half way through my first day back at work, am still feeling a bit rotton with this tonsillitis which is making it easier to resist, also my friend who has decided to support me despite being a non smoker bless him, directed me to this site http://www.stop-smoking-tips.com/benefits-quitting-smoking.html and at the bottom of the page it shows the benefits that your body has when you give up - knowing i have actually done some good already has definately helped

Now i just need to decide if i am going to keep my "fag" money seperate - last time when i did that it just made me think about smoking more so i mgiht forego that for the moment but not sure

what do the rest of you do? Do you save it or do you just stop budgeting for it?

Hope everyone has a good day

Hey puzzled. I've just started (am on day two) and different to last time i'm going to pop £5 a day into my savings account.

Today I did it when i started to feel like lighting up after my lunch and looking at my online balance is helping to keep me on the staight and narrow.

So day two. £10 in the bank :)

    Thanks Funky :)

I am currently saving for a new laptop and have a sealed pot going for Christmas presents etc, but am thinking i could maybe use another pot for "fag" money - maybe a clear jar would be more motivational then i can see the money - hmmmm decisions, decisions lol

Is it odd that today i have spent more time agonising on what to do with the extra money than i have with wanting a fag:confused:
