Well done Whathavewedone, back on track.
MimiJane - I hate all fruit and veg too. Couldn't tell you the last time i had eaten an apple before i stopped smoking, but it seems to be working for me so i'll stick to it. Crisps are my biggest downfall, i could just sit and eat them all day. Prefer it towards the end of the week when all the little one's packed lunch stuff isn't here any more then i can't pinch it.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
I asked someone if I could have a puff this weekend to satisfy my curiosity that I'm not missing anything, I think it's because I hit the month mark. I had one puff and can honestly say it was horrible and strengthened my conviction that I don't want to go there.
I'm still taking it a day at a time though, I think I will have to stay stopped for about 3 years until I think I am past the danger of starting againWell I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
Just want to be...Happy0 -
Hi folks. I think the eating is just a replacement thing. It's a myth that smoking speeds up the metabolism or affects the appetite (except for if you have a fag when the urge to eat crap comes over you it may seem as if it is a dietary aid).
I feel great at the mo. My cough and throat problems are totally gone.
I was rooting out a bag that I haven't used since my last holiday yesterday and in it what did I find but a pack of cigs with 4 still in there. I was like 'crikey, glad I didn't know they were there when I was in the early days and testing out the wine drinkage'. So without further ado I ran them under the hot tap until they disintegrated. Job done.
Went to see nurse on Friday and typically it wasn't the usual one and not only did this nurse not bother taking my blood pressure but she didn't ask about smoking either! So I brought it up myself so she decided to put a note in my computer records that I had quit smoking in big capital letters.0 -

Good for you and I'm with you on the complacency thing. I stopped back in 1991 and started again in 1994 - just from having a couple of holiday cos I thought I could handle it - so started the slippery slope that left me worse than I was before stopping in 91. It was one here and there and then that led to feeling bad for asking other people for a ciggy so buying a pack of 10............... you know how it goes. I don't know what it is, it's not that we have withdrawal forever but there's something in our brain that will never go away and the only way to stay non smoking is to never, ever take another puff.0 -

I gave up for 3 years once and went back to it! Sadly for some people they must remain on guard for Nasty Nick daily! You were lucky the one puff repulsed you as for some people the one puff can re-hook you.
I have had a lifetime battle with nicotine and I am still not sure who will win., It really is that bad. Off it at the moment. I am also convinced that smoking is the reason I have a weight problem as I never had one before I started. I give up, eat, get depressed cos I feel fat, then start again and the cycle starts all over again.
I hate the hold it has over me. Sighs. I may not win the battle but I can still win the war!:DGrocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

OMG, I'm exactly the same I've put on about half a stone - I was a bit too skinny before so everyone's saying I look better, but I'm feeling all wobbly and my clothes are tight. I don't like it!! Think I should up my exercise really, now I'm breathing better.
You'll all be pleased to hear that I did really well while I was away at my nan's! She was really supportive and kept going outside to smoke. I said she didn't have to as it's her house, but she insisted! Anyway, I'm glad I've overcome that barrier anyway!
Well done all

Its going well. My fiance stopped two weeks ago and only told me on saturday night! great for her! I'm so proud. I hope we can both continue like this. Her face has broken out poor thing and has very oily skin which is unusual for her. I told her this will pass after week 3 ish..is that right? Maybe it has different effects for men and women i'm not sure?

So many variables involved Dreamingaloud, hard to say how long it will take for your fiances skin to clear, but reassure her it IS only temporary and will clear up soon I'm sure. Just her body's way of clearing out the toxins and a good sign
After waiting for what seems like forever (41 days), my cough is at last subsiding and I'm starting to sleep a lot better, so really chuffed.
Still got a horrible taste in my mouth and, after doing some research, just trying to make a few changes to what I'm eating and taking some Clorella as a supplement, which is supposed to help. Hate going to the docs, so trying everything else first
Still love the smell of smoke and had my first dream about lighting up last night. Just wish I could be more positive about staying off the cigs. Oh well, hopefully it will come

Hi my name is Bangerchick and my stats are:
I have been quit for 1 Week, 4 Days, 2 hours, 45 minutes and 1 second (11 days). I have saved £35.33 by not smoking 166 cigarettes. I have saved 13 hours and 50 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 16/04/2009 14:58 :rotfl:
I am on both patches and inhalator as I really do like puffing away lol though I am finding less need for it as the days are going by.
I still would like a cig but to be honest I am looking at how much it was costing me, so now I am joining my local gym this week to get me fit0
