  • Hi all,
I have not been on for a while as we have been on holiday. I can't believe I am on day 44!! I have never gone past the 3 week mark before.

Being away last week has made my husband try to give up as it was only him going outside for a cigarette and we seemed to be waiting for him all the time before we could go and do anything, so I think that made him really think about it.
He is on day 2 and he is going cold turkey, which normally he can't go more than half an hour without one I think he is doing really really well!!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

    Hi folks, just checking in.

Still going wonderfully well here but I'm mindful of ever becoming complacent - was warned that those who find it easier can be the ones who after 4/5/6 months are tempted to just try one. I will not be doing that!

I finally feel a lot better in myself as well. The residual effects have all but gone, just the odd crackle in the throat now, it has virtually gone. So that's my lungs all cleared out I guess.

Am I the only one who never did like the smell of smoke anyway?

Glad to hear things are better for you Mazza and that your appetite's returned. Very well done on your Carbon monoxide levels, it don't get much lower than 1!!

You've done so very well mumofcookers! Some folk get fearful of going on holiday, but you've obviously coped brilliantly. I do hope your husband can stick to it and quit, IF he does then what an achievement for you both!!! I really wish him well.

Well done SandC!! Good to hear you're cough's a whole lot better. NO you're not the only one who never did like the smell of smoke, I've always detested it, but now quite like a passing whiff - so long as the smoker comes no where near me, especially after putting it out. Talk about smelling VILE!!!

OK I quit on Monday 6th April so that makes me on Day 18 ... which is into my third week.

First few days were great, was recommending it to anyone. Into the second week, felt cravings but they would pass.

Feeling lethargic, irritable, low, very hormonal and I just had a panic attack whilst out. Probably because I was in a Car which smelt of stale smoke as someone had just had a fag. Who knows.

I am feeling positively psychotic. Just resisted the glass of Wine I was thinking of pouring to calm my nerves.

And I have been reading all the sites that says its a good 3-6 months before we are over the withdrawal.

Cold Turkey by the way.. no NRT here.

Got Allen Carrs book. Read a few chapters a few months back then carried on smoking and ditched the book.

From personal experience - it's ok to drink if you really do have the desire and will to give up. The only exception that I can think of perhaps is being in the company of smokers when pie eyed - a bridge to far initially perhaps?

Well done dippychick, cold turkey certainly can't be easy. Think of the carbon monoxide levels in your lungs, it will be that of a non smoker by now. I also fancy a glass of wine desperately tonight, but the appetite has gone again, so won't drink on an empty stomach, all i can manage to eat is toast, fruit and crisps atm. Wish i could ditch the crisps but they are the handy things.

Isn't anyone else suffering with moods?!

yes dippy but i put that down to personal circumstances, i can cry at the drop of a hat, or swing a punch (at a wall ofc and have the bruised knuckles to prove it). But still don't want to smoke. If that makes sense. probably not, as nothing i say or do makes much sense atm :p
