Just wanted to say yay, two weeks!!!
Still haven't had a cough, very strange, but feeling healthier by the day and also have more energy which is great (I don't usually have much lol!). The last two days I have been on one .5mg of champix a day so almost gone cold turkey and still have no interest in cigs at all. I seem to be able to smell a smoker from a mile off now though and they smell yuck!
I have one big "trigger" I still haven't done though, I know I shouldn't avoid them but I'm not ready to sit in a room full of people smoking yet. Can't wait for my carbon monoxide test tomorrowWell I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

Hi Sue
Tomorrow I'm half way there when I have my 3rd lot of chemo - I have it every 3 weeks. This has also bought my meno on. Which ain't a problem, no periods :jbut unfortuately I still get the I want to kill someone symptoms  I was a bit disturbed as I was doing so well & only sucking my pipe about thrice a day. Now I'm back to cluthing it like my life depends on it  But I only have one cartridge a day. I will do it & so will you lot too! Thanks Sue you're great

Very well done indeed on day 19 SandC!!! :T That horrible taste will disappear soon enough, just a small sage to go through, so well worth it though!
Congratulations on 3 marvellous weeks free of muck and rubbish Dreamingalound!! :THave a great time in Portugaland whenever they light up offer to go and put the kettle on or get some cold drinks, anything to keep away from it!
Mazza, I think I'd agree with you re the taste and Champix, give it a little while and it'll pass through the system, meanwhile try flavoured drinks (squashes).
Mimi, could the heartburn be due to a change in diet, something you're eating that you don't normally? Aha! Maybe it's due to you having overeaten just a tad of course! If it persists get some Gaviscon and have some just befor you go to bed, works wonderfully.
Well done on 2 weeks free Shelly!! :T Don't worry about not having a cough, some smokers that continue to smoke never cough, just how it goes I guess, Keep up that great work!
Thanks for the update DUKE, good to hear you're getting there and sounding quite chipper - aside from your homicidal thoughts!!! No wonder though if you've got the meno feelings to get through too! All things considered one cartridge a day isn't too bad with all you've been through recently. Keep us posted DUKE, it's always lovely to hear from you. All the best for now.
Have a lovely Thursday everyone, fill your lungs with as much fresh air as possible and whenever you see a smoker, think how far you've come already. They've already to see the light whereas you've all done it!!! :T

Day 14 on Champix - Day 4 not smoking.
Just been to Smoking cessation clinic. My Carbon monoxide levels have dropped from 36 to 4 in 4 days!!!!!! I really couldn't believe it. Especially as today has been quite tough and I could have killed for a fag. But this gave me the strength to come straight home and avoid going to Tesco to buy some :T At least I wasn't embarrassed blowing into the thing this week and didn't set the alarms off :rotfl: So another day gone by, and another still to come,4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Well done Mazza, it's a good feeling isn't it. My carbon monoxide reading today was a big fat zero, after 2 weeks of not smoking, I am so chuffed!!
You should also be getting to the stage when all of the nicotine is out of your body now as far as I know, so any cravings you get will be more mental than physical. Champix pretty much turned all my cravings off, but I still have my inhalator for times when I get really stressed, I only change the cartridge once a week, but sometimes just holding it in my hand makes me feel better.
Happy easter everyone, have a great weekend and don't eat too many easter eggs!!Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

Hello everyone how are we all doing? Well today is my quit day!
Have had really tough night! Must have chewed my way through about 2 packs of extra strong mints!
Almost been a non smoker for 24hours!:j Not really got a craving for actual food! If anything I don't really want to eat!
Need to stop eating mints as much though because they have given me 'furry teeth'0 -
Wow, can't believe I'm on Day 40 (although it feels like donkeys years since I was a smoker).
I rarely think about smoking now. I'm really glad I bit the bullet and ditched the patches a couple of weeks ago. I feel as though I'm completely weaned off nicotine now and don't crave cigarettes at all now. I still miss the habit from time to time when I'm bored (quite often as I'm at home with two little children) but I don't feel irritable or stressed or actually feel the NEED to smoke iyswim.
The 2 weeks on mid strength patches and 1st week cold turkey were definitely the worst and I'm glad they're behind me.
I've started exercising to mitigate the extra food that I'm eating and generally feel a lot healthier now. I was also really pleased when someone I hardly know expressed huge surprise at my age this week. Usually people don't seem at all shocked so maybe I'm looking younger. I certainly have a few zits (perhaps this is giving me a certain adolescent look)

Still not smoking guys 5 weeks in, today! wow how great is that !! im so blooming happy i cant express it fully to you all on here, but i really am over the moon.
I put off giving up for so long thinking that i would have to suffer in order to be a non smoker, how wrong i was, it aint been half has bad as i thought it would be!!, only regret is, yes you guessed it , i didnt do it sooner!
Dont sit there thinking about giving up, Go for it and do it now. im not saying its easy by any means, but its only as hard as you want it to be! Good luck xx
