Thanks Naomim and Toothsmithicon7.gif I have not had bleeding gums or any other "mouth" problems, just this horrible metal taste which won't go away. What with this and the sore throat, I feel as if I'm smoking 20 a day:rolleyes:

Hopefully things will settle down soon.

I went through it all 14 yrs ago!!!!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

11 weeks smoke free but had very strong urges to kill people last week :o Not sure what happened but I'm still sucking furiously on my nicorette inhalator

Well done everyone! Together we will do it :j

    Hi everyone
3 weeks tomorrow (cold turkey). I can do this but there are odd times when I would almost kill for a smoke! I've started eating anything and everything - the celery addiction is ok but not the chocolate... I'm going on holiday in less than 2 months!!!! Does anyone have an "alternative". I would be really grateful!!
    Thanks

    Hi everyone!

You all sound as though you're really doing wonderfully well and all definately in for the long haul which is just great! :j

Buggins, why not try Ice Pops as an alternative to choc, or sour sweets ie, sherbet lemons or similar. Keep going at that choc you'll never fit into a plane seat!! ;) Before you reach for anything too fattening, grab a glassful of water, down it then go and do a job around the house or run up the stairs a few times.

Great to see you back on DUKE!!!! How are you now after the treatment - all finished? After 11 weeks I was quite surprised to hear how you felt last week!! Let's hope it passes soon and you don't 'run' into too many people whilst you're like it!! You've done marvellously on achieving 11 weeks free from it all!! :T

The matallic taste really is a natural happening Mimi, it'll pass soon enough, until then clean your teeth more often tom get rid of it temporarilt. Well done on 3 weeks!!! :Tyou too with your great amount of time that you've quit for Naomi!! :T

Everyone has achieved such a lot, so far and it's so good to see, to hear the enthusiasm too, though I'll agree that those dreams are horrible - until you KNOW that's what it is!

Pleasant dreams Chris, I do hope you're sleep soon get better, Heaven knows it should be after all you're doing!

Keep strong ALL and be proud!! :T

Actually, yeah that's me. I have been feeling like my breath is worse than when smoking. I hadn't really thought about it much. Ditto with the feeling like I've been smoking 20 too. So weird. Keep telling myself it'll pass soon and I'll feel super healthy. Strange that you feel worse in yourself after stopping something so nasty isn't it?

Oh yeah, day 19 Allen Carr cold turkey and a very happy non smoker.
  • three weeks has past! feels like a lifetime. Tomorrow is the long weekend away to Portugal with my fiancee and her parents. All three of them are smokers and i know it will be tough, especially when were all sitting on the balcony looking over the sea and they are all smoking grrrr.

But hopefully i can get through this, and if i do then i think i will be free forever. I will let you all know on tuesday how i'm getting on. Its great to see you are doing well, keep it up! :money:

It certainly is strange SandC ... like everything's designed to make you go back to smoking again

I didn't cotton on to the weird taste at first, thinking it was still the taste of ciggies lingering in my mouth. Can't still be the case after 3 weeks though ...

Also got heartburn in bed last night which woke me up twice ... never used to get this, feel like I'm a total wreck at the moment

Good luck with your long weekend away and have a great time! Go with a positive attitude ... your fiancee and her parents will be (secretly) so envious you've given up smoking. Hang on to that fact, try not to overdo it with the alcohol and you'll be fine.

Let us know how you get on icon7.gif

I've had the horrible taste in the mouth too, only on day 3 of no smoking though, had this feeling on Champix as soon as I went to the stronger tablets, where coffee and fags tasted awful, still left with the horrible taste in my mouth so think it's related to the Champix rather than the non smoking
