I found the Allen Carr book didn't work for me either but the clinic has. I was so ready for it though so I think you are right in that is the key ultimately.
By the way, I was told that the high is carbon monoxide and not the nicotine, so that's why you don't get that with the nrt.0 -
what are we going to do this weekend without this forum?!

For those of you who are familiar with Mirc, I have set up a channel on Quakenet. Where we can all continue to receive each other's support if any of you are interested.
For those of you who have never heard of mirc- It's a chat room - download it http://www.mirc.com/get.html install it, from the server list select Quakenet- and then type /join #MSE-Stopsmoking. You may see me there with my name all Capital letters, that means i'm away, but will probably be back soon. Come have a chat.
If you don't want to install anything clicky this --> http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=MSE-Stopsmoking

guess no one needed the support on chat room. Well, I feel ready to attempt tomorrow, a day earlier than anticipated. Then if I fail I have a day in the bag to try again, but feel strong enough for it now.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

A shame about that mazza, though I don't think many would have seen your message. A shame, but very good of you to have thought ahead and given everyone the chance. I suppose by now you've started without those 'orrible white sticks?
You're welcome Chris.
Well done everyone for getting through yet another weekend!!
Have a great week everyone, you're getting closer and closer to that winning line!

Day 11 - Champix
Day 1 Non Smoker =]
Well got up this morning, reached for my cigs to discover they aren't there. Been awake since around 4:30am and no cravings, am still looking for my cigs out of habit but no cravings if that makes sense.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Hi all, thanks mazza for the tip but I've been offline all weekend anyway, very kind of you to make the effort though.
Been very fine with things all weekend, wine on Friday no problem.
Had a very stressful evening last night and really normally would have been up pacing around smoking but it really didn't enter my mind that I needed a cigarette, my mind was focussed on the problem at hand and nothing else.
Good luck for this week everyone.0 -
I missed your message too Mazza. Congrats on now officially being a non smoker! I found that looking for fags out of habit or thinking I should be having one now only lasted a day or two. With those blue babies you just don't think about smoking at all, they made me feel like a non smoker from the off.
Because I didn't get on with the blue ones I am still getting the odd craving (I know they are not physical, just mental) on the white tablets, but I am taking one day at a time and each day is an achievement. I just need my willpower too with these.
I am really going to need it in the next couple of days because the "lovely" stop smoking nurse I saw last week didn't give me enough tablets to last until my next appointment, I'm two days short. So I am going to take one a day to make them last, I could probably do without them but I so want to do the 12 week course to ensure I don't cave in. I'm sure that nurse wants me to start again lol!Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
Just want to be...Happy0 -
Hi just checking in.
Am really pleased that I didn't cave in around the 3/4 week mark as I feel like I've turned a bit of a corner now.
Am stuffing my face since I came off the patches and can tell that I've put on a pound or five (but oh was always telling me I need to put on weight anyway) but it's great to think "now what do I fancy to eat" rather than thinking "I fancy a fag what can I replace it with to stop myself from craving one".
I think Spring is a good time to stop as the change in weather/longer days make you feel more positive anyway. By the time miserable winter comes round again we'll have beaten our addictions into touch.0
