    Hi
Yep I can relate totally to what youre saying- in fact it could be me. I dont know how long you quit for, but I have tried so many times and somewhere along the way I seem to lose my motivation and all of a sudden the reasons why I have quit dont seem as important. Plus, I used to get fed up of the constant battle going on in my head , it used to exhaust me. I didnt want to get out of bed on a morning because then the day would start and I would have to go through the battle once more.

Thank you so much for this post as this is exactly how I feel. :T I tried with just an inhilator and failed and am actually doing worse on patches:eek: . Things a bit iffy with him indoors at the moment, which isn't helping (yes I know it's an excuse). Once I get to work I can cope without a fag but first thing in the morning and once I get home it is like a battle zone in my head (I have tried distraction, walking the dog, doing the garden, ironing, reading, etc) .

My intention at the moment is to carry on not smoking at work and just see how I go but I just feel drained and exhausted.

Cough much better today, only had a small one this morning so this is good news!

Sue-UU it's the Allen Carr method - nothing 'should' be a trigger and nothing 'should' be a crutch. So far this has been true for me. You are told to not change your routine so if you were planning on going out for beers on the day of the clinic or the stopping day if it was the book then you do so. You shouldn't be tempted. Don't ask me how it works but it seems to! As for exercise, I don't do enough of that full stop. The cough didn't seem to be connected in any way.

Hi, Oh Ameliarate, I do feel for you. Last night I was so tetchy and narked I just lay on the settee with my dog and pulled a blanket over our heads. I didnt want to talk or see anyone. It would have been the easiest thing in the world to say "oh s*d it , I am off for some fags" But I am so glad I didnt, as I would have absolutely been so mad at myself today and felt 10 times worse. I think its just a question of gritting your teeth and fighting on. I know in time that this will get better, its got to. Keep trying, I promise you will get there in the end.

    Morning all!

Hope everyone's feeling positive and doing well

Mouth ulcers have reared their ugly heads again for me and my friend at work who's quitting with me. I've bought some Corsodyl mouthwash which is on my desk and we're both having daily doses :D. I must admit, for me, the mouth ulcers are the worst side-effect I've had but are also very worrying in that suddenly your mouth is repairing itself and this is what happens. What the heck must have been going on in my poor old mouth before?

    How is everyone else?

  • Hi everyone,

It seems to be going better.
I still have times where I think I really need a fag but these are happening less often now.

I don't think I miss it, there was a woman stood behind me today in the shop and she stank of smoke, I can't believe that was me for nearly 16 years!

Not long now and I should have a month under my belt!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

    Hi
You are doing brilliantly, nearly a month that is fab. What made you decide to go cold turkey ? I decided to because the patches made me itch so much my skin was bleeding, plus I wanted to get the nicotine out of my body as soon as possible. Generally, I feel okay, but sometimes getting towards the end of the day, I maybe get a bit fidgety (like last night) I just come on here and read the posts and it spurs me on as they are so many others on here going through the same thing. Its a well trodden path, thats for sure.
I want to wish you every success, youre doing great

    Hi Adamsmum

Thats great, well done to you. According to my quit counter I should have saved over £100.00 but I have only got about 26p in my stop smoking jar  Which really brings the message home to me that I could not afford to smoke in the first place and how I managed to afford it I will never know. But I suppose you will always find money for fags when your desperate.
Are you planning to keep saving or have you got something in mind you want to spend it on

    Chris xx
I have been quit for 2 Weeks, 3 Days, 6 hours, 5 minutes and 29 seconds (17 days). I have saved £101.35 by not smoking 431 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Day, 11 hours and 55 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 16/03/2009 07:45
  • Hi adamsmum, I am going to try putting away £20 each week from now on. In reality it was about £35 a week I was spending, but I used to stretch myself to afford them. I put £30 away last week because I knew this week would be tight with it being the end of the month.
I can't wait to be able to treat myself, must get a tin and watch my savings grow too :j
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

    Just want to be...Happy
