Hi Lurkio, can you update my total to 8 please as yesterday and today have been AF days.

If I hang in there I have worked out I can still make my target by the end of the month but only just and will have to have a weekend where only have a few drinks on one night instead of 2

aarrrgh everytime i try and post the thread freezes, is anyone else having probs with the thread at the moment, it wont let me thank, only randomly

    anyhoo,
eselt, thank god you are ok. just got really upset reading your post. i am sorry what you have been going through. you've let no one down - big hugs x

sounds like many of us are at that stage where the over indulgence of xmas is a distant memory, we are starting to feel slightly healthier and now the stress comes, the weather is still yuck and dark, kids back at school, daily grind, bills mounting......and what harm could a glass of "calm" do? only the one eh? ..but then we all know it would be one tonight, two tomorrow, three or four on sat and back to square one.
i am struggling at the moment but theres nothing in the house, i cant go out and thats all i can deal with at the moment. i dont know about tomorrow. but 13 af days make me want to keep it up.

    nite xx

ps. wb hope you are ok (hugs)
GP - your AF and lardloss is extremly impressive
fedup, glad to see you xx

It's a potentially dangerous time...all the reasons for wanted to free ourselves from the booze fade into the background and become that dim memory and we think "ah, come on, it's only a little drink, what harm can it do"..

    :)

I'm having a nice cup of orange and lotus blossom tea to chill me out for the night. Mind you the book I'm taking to bed is Clive Barker. So I'll probably wake up screaming anyway.

Hi all- can't stop blubbing as I've finally managed to catch up with all the posts I missed and I can't believe how lovely you people are and how much you were worried about me and others who are struggling. I think a lot of people think that all drinkers are selfish, but often its because we care about others, take on other peoples problems and crap and take responsibility and are sensitive and think deeply that we drink and those qualities are lost as we drink to try and manage it all.

Just goes to show, no-one in my local pub has asked how I am or where I've been, even though its full of drinking buddies of old, but on here you find genuinely warm and caring people, who are realistic, have empathy and are much nicer people full stop. Some of you guys are amazing- thank you so much.

The only problem I have with the thread - and it seems to happen nearly every day - is I log in, and then read say 10 posts or walk away from the computer for 10 seconds and then it seems to boot me out. Whenever I have lost the thanks button I look up and I've been logged out for some reason.

I don't know why but it is bloomin' frustrating

I think it is safe to say 15/15 for me now Lurkio. About to go and make a hot choccie:beer:

Polariod you are doing amazing - so just think of that - january is tough, but half way through and if its any help I can't have it in the house either - I got rid of the alcoholic leftovers to a pals last week, kept the AF wine and beer - drank a whole bottle of AF wine last night - in about an hour flat (normal for my wine consumption) - so I know I CANT have it in the house - its a defence mechanism.

Have noticed though thanks to you all - I am not counting the minutes down til 10pm when the shops close
I am not itching to get to supermarket on any excuse after work to buy a bottle of wine
I don't go in the wine aisle any more
I try and have lunch with pals instead of meet up for a drink
Seem to be doing so much more at home and have actually managed a film or two all the way through

So-- all good little steps which I could never have done before without you lot- and this might cheer you up - its getting lighter by 5mins each morning and night - so pretty soon you will begin to see a difference in the days, snow drops will be sticking their little noses up soon

A sure sign that all good things are about to slowly appear - keep up great work!! And tomorrow you will have been AF for 14 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (well done payback as well!! woo hoo) and all you other amazing guys xx
