I've been reading this thread on and off for a while now as I thought it would help me cut down in 2009.

I feel an utter failiure. It's only day one and I've already failed. Everyone else is doing so well (well done!). I've done it before and in the past January has been fairly easy for me and I've done the detox for the whole month before. I started today with good intentions - ate healthily and drank plenty of water. I have a bit of a cold and had a hot lemon drink to start the night, but then come 9.00 pm (much later than usual) DP says "do you fancy a medicinal beverage?" and I just can't say no. Three glasses later I feel c**p. What is wrong with me?

    Aaagh,
Dont worry about a little slip just hop back up onto the wagon straight away.
Nothing to be ashamed of if you are poorly.Just let DP know that in future you will need flowers/chocolate/jewellery to make you feel better.:D

You haven't failed at all, just a small hiccup. Try to put a positive spin on it - the next time you feel your resolution starting to slip just remember how disappointed you feel now and use that to help avoid slipping up again :)

Thanks Jo. I will try again tomorrow, though (and I'm sounding really defeatist now) we had kind of agreed to no alcohol in the week but OK in moderation for Friday and Saturday. The days are a bit of a jumble at the moment.

Back at work on Monday so hope I'll be able to get on track then. I really like the idea of putting the target units (maximum) on your signature. So, could someone remind me, what is supposed to be the recommended limit? Is it about 21 units pw (eek  ) for a woman?

Think its 14:eek: for women....but not too sure.

Yep...just checked..14 for women and 21 for men...

After looking at the link to the sun alcohol unit calculator I posted earlier, I drank waaaaaay over a weeks limit just last night

Right, I'm off to bed now, don't feel tired and think I may toss and turn tonight but in the grand scheme of things, it's a small price to pay for a few days :)

Hope everyone had a great day :)

    xx
