YM- get that pain checked out, liver trouble hardly gives you any symptoms for ages, I didn't have any until I got a 'stitch' like feeling under my ribs. Could be nothing, but get checked out anyway.0

Hi everyone Happy New Year!
No hangover today!! V tired & stressed yesterday, drank far too much too quickly & fell asleep at 9.30 (so OH informs me.......) & missed midnight! Never even got to open my bottle of champers. A zero reading on the old breathalyser this morning (OH just on the limit, at 10am), long walk with the dogs & a cooked breakfast, & now I'm back home  .....
Jo I'm feeling twitchy too - it hit me tues night when I realised it was my last womo drink at home of the year......i'm trying to remember that I WANT to do this & not feel it's some sort of deprivation / hardship. It's like when you start a diet & all you want is chips when in fact you hadn't eaten any for 6 months anyway....obv that's not true about wine (in other words a completely crap analogy) but I'm sure it's on my mind more then usual & I'm worried about later on..... 3 - 5pm danger time!! Thank goodness you're all here - if I was doing this on my own I'd ALREADY be thinking "oh I'll start on the first Monday of the month....".
Anyway I've prepared very carefully for today by not doing ANYTHING round the house for days, so have got lots 'n' lots to keep me busy, going to start taking the decs down I never leave them up til 12th night...now all the celebs are over it's time to get this house in order! Gonna get some wood in for a fire...sorry, am I boring you?
Be strong everyone....good luck. Will be back lots I expect! x0 -
Blimey - its busy on here. You can tell its a new year can't you?
So far so good today ......
The 'pangs' haven't set in yet ......Embrace your inner Hillbilly

Was great to be able to drive home and not have to hang about for a taxi till all hours.
Agreed, not drinking gives you a freedom with your movements that drinkers don't possess. This is without doubt my favourite time of year for being a [STRIKE]non-drinker[/STRIKE] ex-drinker
I define myself as an alcoholic in recovery i.e. one that doesn't drink. But you should not concern yourself with labelling yourself.
Alcoholics can get very caught up with the semantics of the whole not drinking thing. It doesn't matter what you are called or choose to call yourself, it ONLY matters that you don't drink.
I used to hate to think of myself as an alcoholic, even though my drinking was far from normal. I was a 'problem drinker' , a 'serious drinker' or sometimes a 'hard partier'
I had to stop drinking to realise I was an alcoholic. :rotfl:
Good luck everyone - I have been sober for nearly 500 days now, and it gets easier.
I am currently 24hours into my stopping smoking initiative, so am going through the rack at the mo, so I can relate to the struggle.
One day at a time people, lets just make it to midnight :T0 -

I have drank a bottle of wine each night for the past 3 years. I am now in the habit of getting hime from work and opening a bottle at 6pm. I don't have a life, I have put on lots of weight, I can't get up for work in the mornings and I have no energy.
How the hell do I go about breaking this habit of 3 years?Grocery Challenge 2018

I have drank a bottle of wine a night for years aswel, but ive decided January is going to be wine free. I am scared about how I'm going to sleep (I can't remember the last time I went to bed sober!). Everyone on here is really nice, they don't judge you and you can decide for yourself what to do about it x£100 - £10,0000 -
Happy new year to you all. Had a great night last night but paced myself and after a glass of champers at midnight switched to blackcurrant squash. Yum.
Anyway, woke up this morning feeling fine (there's a song in there I think!), got all the decs down, cleaned the house and now have the house to myself as the good lady wife has taken the kids to a party :T .
Am feeling really up for my challenge of 25/31. May even beat it but the difficult thing for me will be finding something else to drink instead. Once the kids are in bed I find it very easy to open some wine. Gonna have to invest in some of those old favourites. Might go and buy a bottle of dandelion and burdock!
At school when leaving the sports changing rooms there was a sign which said 'GOFRIT'. When you came back in there was another sign which said 'Did you GOFRIT? If not, why not?'
I am going to GOFRIT in January.
Good luck to all.
