    Hi TRC
If you think a full AFJ is achievable I would say Go For It.
This time last year I too started cutting down then we went away for my birthday and wedding anniversary.I thought I was in control...just have one or two glasses of wine....easy this is....well it wasnt.Within two days I was back to square one and very nearly ruined our holiday and 25th wedding anniversary due to hangovers/arguements etc.
It was then i knew....I could not even have one:eek:
When I got back I vowed to stop drinking completely ,and I have.
I dont know if you have decided to completely stop eventually but if you have then I would say carry on now...if you can.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Oh and Happy Birthday...it is now tomorrow.:D :D

6/7 for me now. Did struggle a bit last night and could feel myself getting grumpy but managed to sort it out and have no beer.

    Have a good day everyone

  • Hey guys
Happy birthday TRC - up to you I think, if you will get more out of the achievement than a couple glasses of wine then go for it, but then again if its about drinking in perspective then a couple glasses on your birthday - but thats only my opinion.

Hi guys me another AFD - nearly caved in mother of a day, instead did homework and got into doing the wii fit with my daughter - another decent nights sleep, pretty groggy though.
Quiz tonight will be a challenge but will try not drink even one.
Love to you all and the wise words

"Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life."

    Happy Birthday TRC

So how many of you are having positive side effects of being AF then?

I have to date lost 8 pounds since I stopped drinking and that is amazing since I have developed a real sweet tooth and am eating loads of ginger biccies to ward off my all day sickness!!:D

    Have a good day everyone

  • Happy Birthday TRC :bdaycake: :bdaycake:

Whatever you decide I hope you have a lovely birthday. Personally if it was my birthday I would be enjoying a drink but then I am not intending to give up entirely and I have started to feel really bad if I do drink now but thats more about having to confess on here:D At least you are thinking this through now rather than just blindly drinking. Enjoy your day:j

115K I agree with you that any reduction in drinking should be applauded and thats is why I love the support from most people on this thread. Well done on your 3/6 thats 50% AF:j

Woke up feeling great again today I don't seem to be suffering with the sleep problems some of you have but then I have always been at my happiest in bed and asleep:rotfl: Planning on another AFD today so the world teabag mountain will benefit again:D

Blimey, won't make that mistake again...been away from the thread since Sunday and its taken a long time to catch up - you guys are prolific:rotfl:

Lurkio- I am pleased to be able to improve your statistics:D - 7/7 for me :j

I am delighted with this result, but now have a dilemma  Tomorrow is my birthday and am having a takeaway with the GLW but am tempted to reward myself with a couple of glasses of wine. I originally set a target of 25/31 to allow for this and for a night out earlier in the month (where i elected to drive and stayed AF), and for a few more slips along the way.

I am confident that if I do now have a drink it will only be a couple rather than what would have happened before Lurkio's AFJ challenge - probably a bottle and a half. This is good. I think something has clicked mentally for me - as was suggested in an earlier post - which means I am well on the way to no longer needing the comfort blanket that alcohol was becoming for me.

However if I do have that drink I won't do a full AFJ which I feel may now be achievable.

    What do you reckon?

    TRC

Well done TRC :T :T and happy Birthday!! :bdaycake: :coffee: :D

Personally, I wouldn't. For (at least) two good reasons

    1. you are perfectly capable of enjoying yourself without a drink.

    2. I'm beginning to think there's no such thing as 'one or two'.......

Imagine how pleased with yourself you'll be when you EXCEED your target ;)

Good luck - and have fun, whatever you decide to do....

:DNeigh, neigh, and thrice neigh :D
