I am also walking to work as well - its feast of famine with me
Either full on alcohol and stuff the consequences who said food after midnight was bad for you.......
Or
Full on monk, herbal tea, lots water, lots rest my body is a temple..........
I walked in today and whilst feeling a bit chuffed at
A - managing to get out early enough to do this
B - its a nice walk
Then of course that horrible voice in the back of my head say's 'Another fad, not drinking you - pah you KNOW you won't stick to it. YOU CANT. It's who you are.'
Told voice in head to 'S*d off' - but wryly know its generally the case with me - great guns then i fail.
Telling myself its all small steps.
I can't tell when the tipping point was with me - I use to be out gardening til I couldn't see every night (ie not drinking) when the kids were little babies - I think it was when we moved to being away on our own to a different job/house where we had 7 young 22-30 year old volunteers living next door to the house - and it was a bit of a 'party central' kind of a place. Everyone at OH's work socialised with volunteers who were essentially on holiday there and then the rest of the time we all socialised together
DS was 2 DD less than 1 - 12 years ago - then life slowly fell apart somehow or other (not all alcohol related) but alot of it was fuelled by alcohol and parties and the two of us just seeming to go our seperate ways (one in with the kids and one out). It was one of the first times we had enough money and access to alcohol and everyone we mixed with seemed to just get P**d everytime we got together be it at a party or lunch or any other time.
Anyway enough reflection - told the tiny voice in my head to get lost.
Constant vigilence..................Its my new mantra.
My loan is disappearing and its mainly ex-wine money and a few extra bits - I stick in a fiver a day (bottle of red) to my loan. Imagine how much money I have spent since it crept upto a bottle of wine a night.......
I could of written this almost word for word. My counsellor told me to draw the owners of the two voices. The 'sabatour' and the 'best friend' and add speech bubbles to them. What do they say to you? It was a bit of a turning point for me I can tell you.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -
I'm feeling strong today, bought some of the rose Eisberg which doesn't taste too bad. OH is drinking red, but I'm usually more of a white wine fiend so red is easier to resist.
Will post later/tomorrow; hope everyone else is getting on ok tonight. Sleepyjo, welcome and good luck this evening. If you do give in there's always tomorrw.0 -

Evening all
See what happens, miss a day or two on here and it takes forever to catch up!
Budgie - Piglet much better, thankyou for asking. Steroid inhaler seems to be helping most with the coughing. Hope he doesn't need it all the time though!
Fay and Jo - A couple of years ago I joined a dieting site where it was advocated to drink at least 2 litres of water a day (tea, squash, coffee etc all count). At first it was SO difficult but then I found myself drinking it easily! A few weeks later my skin cleared up quite a lot and my..ahem..digestive system was working marvellously!:D I also found I felt rough when I HADN'T had my full quota! I still drink a lot of water a day now. I found a small splash of lemon or lime cordial made it a lot more palatable!
Happyshopper - think I'm on day 17 (or 16, not sure) Best put me down for 16 just in case :rotfl:
Piglet has been improving over the last couple of days. Giving him his inhaler is still a complete nightmare - am sure the neighbours think I'm slaughtering him each time, the screaming he does!! But am seeing improvements so will persevere! Knowing that I may have to get up with him in the night also puts me off of drinking. Nothing worse than dealing wih a poorly child when a bit hungovered / still sozzled!
I'm going to catch up on the thread tomorrow. Piglet off to nursery at 1pm so I have free time....bliss!
((hugs)) to all
