Then that fear got hold of me....how will I get through a party without drink??? Well, I'm going to give it a damned good go. If my company isn't exciting enough when I'm sober then I need new friends;)

It is possible to have a great time without alcohol. I volunteered to drive to a party a few years ago. I went with the intention of really enjoying myself and I was determined to join in, laugh and act like I was drunk! It was just as much fun as it would have been if I had been drinking because I was with nice people and people who are fun to be with sober or drunk! It was lovely to be able to hop in the car afterwards and drive home - no waiting around for a taxi or the expense of having to pay for one.

I woke up the next day clear headed with good memories of the night before. The young teenager who drank himself silly at the party and ended up falling over wouldn't have felt so great the next morning.

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: oh dear.....

NTC put your feet up - no need to change my score......

I'm really CROSS with myself - out to lunch with friends yesterday so had a perfectly "legitimate" glass of wine. OK so far. But then had this "oh well the day's not AF so I might as well make the most of it" thought which then couldn't shake off. I'd been to supermarket with OH & I told him to put the wine I'd bought in his bag as it was to go to his house for the weekend, but then found it in my shopping (whilst still trying to shake that thought off....) & that did it. How very pathetic. That's an attitude I must, must snap out of - the all-or-nothing syndrome we've discussed on here before. Also OH was being crabby which had wound me up....I can't blame him for my alcohol issues but I've kept a note that he was the "trigger"!

I missed here yesterday - wasn't in work so asked DD to leave PC on for me but she switched it off & it's so ancient I couldn't be bothered to do the waiting time to get back online!

So, have just had to do huge catch-up so too many posts to respond to each one...very mixed bag of "results".

I'm going to be AF today (to equal Feb's score ;) ) & am now off to find Kudzu online....

    Morning housemates.....
A very tired Stroppy reporting in....
Now on day 3 of no smoking and feeling very smug with myself
Not quite so smug about my pathetic AFDs though....still just the one for me,though have noticed the not smoking has reduced my intake considerably the last few nights.I used to just gulp and puff away!So thats one good thing!
I slept so unbelievably badly last night though....nightmares...giant cigarettes...I must have woke up every 30 minutes or so in a panic.Feel as though I have been run over today....yuk

Day 3 for me here so filing nails smugly in my angelic whites :AI suspect the red cloak will be out of my wardrobe this weekend though after last months mad catch up at the end I really wanted to bag some at the start so far so good. (Mind you the world sweety mountain has disappeared somewhat this week) So today is me giving myself a good talking to and getting this weight thing under control before its another "problem". I think I will go and check out the local classes to see if there are any that I would stick to. I really want to get the benefit of AF days by losing some weight that would be such a motivator me. Also going to nip to town to get some Kudzu on the basis that if it stops me craving a wine then maybe I wont feel the need to stuff that gap with sugar IYSWIM.

Ophelia, I would say I havent drunk more on my drinking days and last month I had a unit target too (21 per week I chose) and I managed this easily so havent bothered this month. What I have noticed is my tolerance has dipped dramatically so going back to old habits doesnt work for me at all, I can see moderation being the norm for me sometime in the future:o

Winebox good luck for smashing Februarys actual today I can feel a small jumpy coming on if you succeed ;)
Lurkio - Big Sister will get back to you :naughty:

Lots of missing updates on the list hope everyone else is doing ok.

God sorry for the ramble

Got the kudzu on order from H&B.....I did a bit of reading about it first & found an article that said it should be 30 - 40% concentration & beware the H&B one is only 7% but that's fairly typical of me, to worry it won't work before I've tried it!! Hoping to control the excess on days when I'm having a drink.....

I read something like that too, winebox, so I actually take 3 tablets instead of the 2  I wouldn't advise everyone to do that btw :rotfl: it's just that if it is weaker and there are no side effects it's not going to hurt me - so I have been on them just over a week at 3 a day and they are working just fine. If you take 2 tablets and find they don't do the trick then maybe that will help you too ;) It does say not to exceed the stated dose so I am naughty - but it works for me and I plan on cutting back to 2 tablets once I am used to drinking less :j

    It's here

Haven't read up enough about it but I think for me I really need to tackle my problem head on without that sort of support otherwise I'll probably get addicted to that too

I hope it works for you all though, seems as though it has a positive effect!

I think the confusing thing with Kudzu is all the different strengths available
In a 'former life' I was a nurse and so I know that any 'drug' dosage depends a lot on the weight of the person.I have lost a lot of weight, but still need to lose a couple of stone before I become a world famous super model :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:  so I am ok taking 3 tablets. However, if you are not overweight it would be best to stick to the recommended dose.

I reckon once my 'head' and my body are used to less alcohol I can easily cut down to the 2 even though the H&B Kudzu is a weaker variety to some of the others.

Speaking of which, I feel really rubbish today  Did any of you find that? I know I didn't sleep well so I am tired but my head feels like cotton wool today. I dunno, I am guessing it is the de toxing  I am up for being AF today though :j

How many days have you been AF? It's quite common to feel carp during the detox stage which is why a lot of people think s0d it, why bother
