    3AF for me, please, ntc.

I bought my Kudzu today from Holland & Barrett in tablet form. I don't know if they're magic pills or Day 3 was just easier but I have coped really well tonight, no longing feelings. Thanks Fluffy! Can I ask whether you take them in the morning or nearer the time the wine bell rings? Does it matter?

Succumbed to 2 glasses of full-fat coke tonight. I was being very MSE as we had a bottle left over from Christmas.

Ophelia, I have a very low target so that I can cut down and try to break the habit of opening a bottle every night. I'm still drinking every weekend and mid-week if I go out or have people round. I'm definitely not playing catch-up on my 'off the wagon' days. Unless I'm out for lunch I don't drink before 6 p.m. and if I do drink at lunchtime I just have a glass or two and then stop until 6 p.m. So answering your ramble with one of my own: I don't drink to compensate on non-AF days. What I am guilty of is that if I go out for lunch or have one small drink in the pub because I'm driving I carry on drinking when I get home because the AF day is blown.

My weekend starts tomorrow as I'm eating out with friends. Will be lurking, of course, Good Luck to you all.

Been having a think about the whole AF days thing. I'm not sure how other people are approaching it, but I'm wondering if there is a possiblity that because we are allowing ourselves the AF days, are we then drinking more on the days that we are allowing alcohol and therefore cancelling out the AF days :confused: .

I'm one of the cutter-downers and I find I'm actually having a lot less on my drinking days than previously. Not consciously counting units, but I think my subconscious is keeping guard. Seems to be working. It's hard to hold a glass while somebody's slapping your wrist! (har har).

I'm happy to report have finally notched up a couple of AF March days so am on 2/4. That's probably it until Sunday now, then an expanse of tea drinking for about 2 weeks beckons.

    Morning all :)

Ophelia, I think it all depends on the person (which is not a helpful way to answer the question I know ) but....I am a quitter (just for today!) and know that I can never be a cutter downer. For me, having 1 or 2 would be more painful than none at all as far as the cravings, anxiety and panic attacks go so it just can't be done. But then some of you haven't managed to get yourselves so far down the road that there's no turning back like I (and some others) have, which is a good thing. I think you've just got to take all the advice on here and try and mould it to your personal situation, first of all you have to decide what sort of relationship you have with alcohol then we can help you all we can to do whatever you need to do to reduce/quit :)

Morning everyone else  day 4 in the jo1972 house went smoothly, well the drinking part anyway  feeling good today :D

So, when you get a chance NTC, I'm on day 4/31 thank you hunny :)

    Morning all

BB - sorry to hear about the trouble you're daughter is having. That guy sounds like a right !!!!!!. I'm really surprised he kept his job!

Jo - well done on another AF day!

Ophelia - like Jo says, it depends on the person. I know I'm never going to be a "glass of wine with dinner" type person. I guess I am a binge drinker. So its either give up or not for me.

I had a bit of an epithany last night. At 4am no less (why I can't do these things at normal times I will never know!).
I have a party to go to on Saturday. Been planned for ages. Me and a friend are going to another friends house first for curry and wine and then onto the party. For weeks I've been trying to decide whether to drink or whether to abstain. Then I was put on these tablets by the doctor so I can't drink. However, my friend says "just don't take one that day!".
So at 4am this morning I'm awake and trying to decide what to do. And then it dawned on me how bloody RIDICULOUS this is! I'm on these tablets to help my health and I'm considering not taking one just so I can join in with a drink-fest! Am I MAD?!
Then that fear got hold of me....how will I get through a party without drink??? Well, I'm going to give it a damned good go. If my company isn't exciting enough when I'm sober then I need new friends;)

So thats my ramble for today! Hope eveyone else is ok!

    Miss P
    xx

:D Oh maman I am sooo pleased you have found them helpful too :T :j I am not climbing the walls like I was on AF days before with using them :j

I wasn't sure when to take them either but I read a couple of people who had used them took them 30 - 60 minutes before that wine bell rings, so that's what I do. My wine bell starts ringing about 6 pm for at least 2 hours so I take them between 5 - 5.30 and they certainly are helping :D

I am 'on target' to reach my 8 AF days so don't know whether I will manage tonight or not, but I will def. be having a drink tomorrow, being Friday. and on Saturday. Sunday I will play by ear  but will def. be back on track by Monday :D

I am vert tired today though as I have noticed I haven't slept at all well the last 2 nights - has anyone else found they have trouble sleeping on AF days or when you first went AF?

    Good luck everyone :D

Good morning everyone and Well done:T

Congratulations on your decision Miss Piggy. This was one of the things that I worried about, but after an hour or so no one will notice you not being the life and soul of the party...because they will be trying to be that.
And you can watch on with a smug look as they fall apart around you.Feel proud and just think how they will feel next day with their hangovers. You are doing this for you...no one else.....so dont worry.....you will still have fun...HONEST!!!!
    Take care all

  • Hey guys morning!! Waves sheepishly

    Miss P well done

The rest of you well done too - and keep up the good work

Only 3/4 for me today - had a slip up last night - got some news that made me panic - so I justified going shopping for bargains and put a bottle of rose in the trolley - whilst that now means I won't make my target - which was one of the things I worried about setting the 31/31 for - but - my panic has passed now.

No it didn't help at all, problem is still here today - am beginning to see my triggers properly and I really need to think how to manage them

Bad (ish) phd meeting - the guy who is supervising me is a pratt.
followed by unexpected news (not life threatening but will change our longer terms plans)
    stressy evening - not great.

Anyway - enough of the babble - will be AF today so that will be another one under my belt tomorrow.

    Waving sheepishly xx

Hi everyone :hello: hope you are all well?

Pretty rotten day for me to be honest, really miserable boss but hey ho tomorrow is another day, only thing is I am very sensitive to peoples moods. (They affect my chakra's).

    I find ill-fitting trousers affect mine :)

Hi all..... everything ok.... still not broken my duck yet (how many mulligans are you allowed, exactly? :o)

Well done everyone, though you're all putting me to shame ;). Think I may be being called in to Big Sister's diary room before too long :o:o:o

    Lurky
