HI all
tea earlly here too - trying to watch a a bit of a dvd (House series 1) without wine - very very very odd.
I want to retrain myself without losing my life!! I wonder if I can make it through the dvd if I can maybe be relaxed enough to do work later.
Normally its stressy day - glass wine, dvd - snoring
AM now trying this as - dvd - no snoring - work later - a bit relaxed
Also locked purse at work again - just in case - pathetic huh!
Hi Fay. It's not pathetic to lock your purse at work - it's ingenious ! I would never have thought of that and it shows how determined you are to stick to your goal.
I can relate very much to the weirdness of watching tv/dvd without wine. It does feel very odd and .....well......empty I guess is the only way I can describe it, although it sounds sad to say it. I too am working very hard on 're-training' my life in that way so that I can still look forward to chilling out and relaxing with tv/dvd/book etc minus the wine. At the moment it just doesn't feel the same and I don't know whether I should try to change my evening routine so that I'm doing other stuff and it doesn't feel so weird or whether I will get used to not having wine and the chilling out will come from the tv/dvd/bookHope that made sense - lol

Empty is the way I describe it too, but we must try and focus on making it a positive empty i.e. by filling it with things that we enjoy or will make our life easier, like getting organised for the next day or whatever....rather than having a negative empty where we sit around feeling sorry for ourselves ('ark at me again)

:j :j I don't think it is too early for me to say this as my 'danger period' is from 6pm until we have eaten dinner [which can be anything up to 9pm with hubbys hours] Tonight we have had dinner AND - I have had my 1st AF day of the year :j :j :j The only drink I am interested in right now is a hot chocolate [Options 40 calories one as I am another on the weight loss thing too
]
The kudzu are going well and I have reduced my intake by a third so far with their help :T :T I am cutting down not out but utimately want between 2 - 4 AF days per week and to drink less on the nights I do drink so that I am within the recommended guidelines.
DAY 1 AF achieved:T :T :j :j :j

Hi All
Here is todays quote
Setting Aside a Personal Sabbath
"Anybody can observe the Sabbath but making it holy surely takes the rest of the week" Alice Walker
Taken from 'Simple Abundance' by Sarah Ban Breathnach
The chapter goes on to point out how we have lost the art of making a sunday (or other special day) a day of rest due to the very busy lives we lead now. She goes on to say "This is what the sabbath is for; reverence, rest, renewal, rejuvenation, reassuring rituals, recreation, rejoicing, revelation, remembering how much you have to be greatful for, and saying "thank you".
It's a nice reminder of the importance of taking time out and being still for a while to appreciate what is going on around us. (bet she took a while to find all those words beginning with 'r' tho' :rotfl:0 -

Thank you Ophelia
I have done WW and others and I can't get on with them personally [they are fantastic if you can but personally I hated the meetings  ] So I am doing 'my own thing'. I am not rushing it by doing very low cal diets but just by eating sensibly with lots of chicken, fish, slads and fruit and veg and cutting out crisps, cakes, biscuits etc. I haven't had a single cold since I have been on the weight loss plan!!
I used to lose weight easily but I think once you get past about 40 ish it gets a lot harder so I am having to exercise a lot too [which I do hate] I don't want to go to a gym  so I exercise at home - mostly using an exercise bike but also fitness dvd's - it's working, that's the main thing0
