Hi all- FluffyB, I think you are an inspiration- weight loss is brill, wish I could crack it. I actually put on weight when I gave up drinking because I suddenly had a massive sweet tooth and got my general appetite back so was eating properly-the sweet tooth has gone, and I have never liked chocolate, but I am still addicted to nice cheese, would eat it all day every day if I could. Am popping into Holland and Barrett to get some Kudzu today, I used to take Campral for cravings but my prescription ran out and I felt OK not to have anymore but I'm gonna try the Kudzu- had a look online and theres quite a lot of research out there to suggest it can make a difference- I'm a big fan of throwing everything at this problem with the hope something will stick!.

Totally sympathetic about the teenagers- my eldest little sweet boy sort of went upstairs about a year ago and came back down a man, and I couldn't believe how quickly that happened or how scared it made me feel for him- luckily he can't smoke (asthma) and hates drink and drugs, so I'm crossing my fingers and praying that god takes care of him for me, but hes going to the Downlaod festival this year with his aunty and I'm worried sick- probably because I remember all the years me and his dad went to castle donnington, reading festival and glastonbury and did some really daft things.....................but I need to stop stressing about it and thank my lucky stars hes such a good kid at heart.

Hope everyone is OK today- feeling calm and confident and well, everyone is trying so hard and doing so well I can get quite tearful just thinking about how amazing you guys are, and how lucky we are to have made such lifechanging decisions before its too late. Well done everybody.
  • Reporting in from the frozen north - 3/3 for me.

Locking purse in office clearly works - cos DS had a major strop last night and all I could do was think - wine, but then thought - ergh office, then shop - torrential rain.

I would have drank it if it was in the house - so just goes to show. Herbal tea instead.

Hope everyone is good today - miight look up Kudzu - big meeting today - again ergh

Hugs ot all - hope everyone OK.

At this rate I will be eating my tea before my lunch (its already made and sitting in the fridge).

Eselt - I swear the Kudzu are helping :D Even if it is all in my head - I really don't care - I have told myself they will work and that is a huge psychological thing for me :D Personally, from day 3 onwards I don't think it was in my head at all. I really feel they are helping stop the cravings :D Last year when I had AF days I would pace up and down with a glass in my hand heading for the wine muttering 'sod it, I'll start again tomorrow' It took so much willpower to have 2 or 3 AF days. Last night was just different. I won't say I didn't think about it, I did, but the overwhelming craving I had before just wasn't there :D :j

I am hoping I will manage tonight too even though hubby won't be here. Normally when he is late home I will drink quite a bit so I might find tonight hard

Eselt - tell yourself the Kudzu will work for you and you are half way there already :j Like I said though - I think they really are working for me and making cutting down a whole lot easier :j Good luck with them xx :D

Goodness sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Is there a way you could change your evening routine, presumably once child had gone to bed. Perhaps find a way of relaxing and pampering yourself without the drink. My husband used to drink every night and I got into the habit as well. Eventually I decided I wouldn't drink that night, and it got easier as each night went on. I also found as I took initiative and didn't drink so he didn't drink as much. I am by no means tee total but as I can take it or leave it then I am in control and not the other way around. Good luck as its not easy. Sometimes reading a good book helps.Eventually you could put money saved towards a short break or something.

Just lurking to get my daily fix of positiveness and to check I had written Kudzu right on my shopping list. Don't want to end up with cat food or anything!

Hello sclyates you've definitely come to the right place. I'm sure you don't have the time to trawl through the thread since January but the bottle a night scenario is well known on here! I'd only say, congratulations on not starting until 8 o'clock! This thread is full of support and friendliness.

You seem to have a huge amount of carp in your life at the moment so this will give you control over something. Going AF will save you money, save calories and you'll feel good about yourself having achieved something! I'm a cutter down (drink at weekends and evenings out) but try a small target and build from there.
