Well done everyone, either on completely AFD's or much reduced.
I have managed one AFD, which was a Friday night, so was very pleased with myself. It was really hard though andI had so many other drinks I couldn't stop going to the loo all night!
Saturday was a two glasses of wine night (better than the usual 2 bottles) and tonight I'm still on one glass and that will be it. I hope to have a few AFD's this week.
For me, it has become a habit of opening a bottle as soon as DS is tucked up in bed just to wind down. The posts from people with children have really touched me and make me determined to cut right down (as well as the overflowing recycling box that my mother commented on when we returned from a morning's bowling with the kids).0 -
Well my friend has left and I am announcing AFD 3 :j :j got a diet coke overload though so sleep may be tough tonight:D
Decided to tell my friend I wasn't drinking as much anymore and she said she needed to cut down too so she opted for vodka and coke instead of wine:rolleyes: anyway that was one of the better responses I have had from my social circle.
Feel good for having my first AFD in company and it didnt even hurt:o
aaagh well done for Friday and cutting down since. Just think how many units you have saved:T

I have got to say though that I am so grateful for all the support and knowing that other people are feeling just the same. It occured to me that how may of us are honest about our drinking to friends and loved ones? I know I am not and can be defensive etc if its mentioned.
Someone once said to me that people come into your life for a: reason, season or a lifetime. Finding this forum is my reason to stop drinking, so thankyou all.
I have been to the gym this afternoon and whilst I was there a George Michael track came on called: Keep the Faith, and so it occured to me thats what I/we need to do is to keep the faith that we can do this. Another line that stuck we me is: before this river becomes an ocean, which meant to me: Before this glass becomes a few bottles.
my first forum too...never felt inclined to keep up with many other ones.
some great posts recently. have a feeling that as this recession bites still further, there will be more and more people cutting back for many reasons - just looking at our own budget I'd find it impossible to justify any expense on booze.
it would hurt too much. having said that, I am aware of the state of mind that exists where you would do almost anything to get more. and that's a horrible place to be. I'm glad I've not been there for so long.
right....musings over...take care everyone.
day 4/4 lurkio...wherefore art thou......For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -

Well done NTC you should feel so proud of yourselfhope you managed to get a little sleep though!!
Lurkio Wow 4/4 just goes to show you have the qualities of a great leader :A
Aaahh Well done on reducing your intake, my children have been a huge influence on my decicion to cut down, they are at an age now where they are very ummm blunt in their observations, and don't mind who they share them with, which has been rather embaressing to say the least.... but Im glad that they feel they can say what they think is important. They have been so supportive over the last week and also very scathing on Saturday when I caved in, but perhaps that's what I need to keep me on the right tracks at the moment, ahhh bless them
Im on my last day of my hols today, so going to be busy getting house straight, doing some work for a course Im on and not going anywhere near a shop
Hope everyone is OK and feeling bright and sparkly this lovely morning (its snowing here, kids fuming they have to go to school and I get to stay home!!, don't know what they think Im going to do.... perhaps I should build a snowman :rotfl: )
Have a lovely day

"Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life."Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

Hi all!
Well done NTC...not sure I'd have the willpower to not drink in company.....but now you've done it I feel I'll have to at some point!!
Lurkio my score should read 2/4 as had 2 nonAF days at weekend.
But pleased to report....didn't go mad...no hangover today....definitely OMO next 2 days at least so back on the AFDs.
Although I was at work last week today is 'orrible! Far too busy....had better go & get on.
Have a good day all, see you later.
YM sorry about the result; good match though!0
