Am creeping in hanging head in shame........had a lovely visit from my brother yesterday, who thoughtfully brought wine :o Anyway to cut a long story short I let myself get talked into the don't be boring, I hardly ever see you etc, etc. So I crumbled and found a new trigger point, brotherly pressure
So it's still 2/31 for me. Am determined it will be an AF day today, none left in house and far to cold to leave home :D

Anyway, you lot have been busy in my absence has taken ages to catch up with all the post's.

Winebox Well done you for not cracking that wine open, it's so tricky when it's there looking at you almost willing you to open it  and congrats on the 4 years as a non smoker, that shows you do have the willpower :D

Budget Babe That poem is fab and so true, when I had some councelling a while ago I was asked to think about the sort of 'friend' wine would be...it was quite thought provoking but unfortunatly at the time I didn't realise that the councellor was trying to get me to see that alcohol is a cunning, devious, clever, decietful and never to be trusted friend. Im glad I am begining to realise the truth now though.

YM I've just seen the result DONT do anything silly

Hope everone else is good and having a lovely Sunday.

Reading some of the latest posts, it seems that some people have found day 3 or 4 to be hard. I hope it gets easier, and am sure it will.

What disturbs me is the lack of personal responsibility - 'I had a bad day so had a bottle of wine' or 'The other guy had a case so I had just one can'.

This is dishonest - these circumstances did not pour the alcohol down your throats. You did. Everyone who fell off the wagon took the decision to drink. And you cannot blame anyone but yourselves.

You drank because you wanted a drink, because your mind tells you it makes you feel better. You drank because you are alcoholic, and have a propensity to drink.

Do not beat yourselves up - you have an illness (alcoholism). Accept the illness, and then your recovery becomes much easier.

    Good luck, and god bless

I fully accept that it was my decision to drink, and I did it knowing the outcome. What I have to learn to do now is stand up and be counted and say NO, which I have a problem with at the best of time's. At least Im begining to recognise the things that trigger my drinking, ie 6 O'clock, spending time with certain people and feeling stressed. A few weeks ago I couldn't have even recognised that.

I know you are trying to help, you don't really get the reason for the posts "the bloke in front of me bought a crate, so I bought a can" is not blaming the "bloke in front" its explaining exactly how he felt at the time. Only by doing this, examining it, can his thinking change. And I don't care what anyone says but buying just one can, and drinking just one can is amazing will power, infact its alot harder than not drinking at all.

Thats an interesting opinion. I think that the people on here discussing the journey they are on are taking massive personal responsibility and the honesty on this thread is for me very humbling. What I do see is people identifying trigger points that for them make it more difficult, by identifying these trigger points we can look to change them as Bismark said (far more eloquently than I am) Its not about changing the world but changing your response to it (I think that was on Pollyanna:rotfl: :o )

You have obviously found your route to sobriety and well done you.:j Others on here will too and the support of this thread is helping loads

I've got a mystery shop to do at tesco later, I would usually get a bottle of wine as I have to spend £5. I think I'l get myself something nice for afters instead. I forgot to say before, I slept really well last night, and I've found today alot easier. Hope everyone else is doing o.k
