Just thought of something that happened the other day that I haven't mentioned, I actually went in 3 pubs and had non alcoholic drinks!!! OH and I went out shopping and decided to have a pub lunch, he was driving but i am insured on his car so I volunteered to drive it back so he could have a drink or 3 (very brave of me since I have never driven it!) We ended up calling a two pubs for one drink in each then had a very late lunch in the third, I had orange, then coke then a kaliber and lime, it felt very very weird to order them and even weirder to leave a pub sober and drive home instead of stagger into a taxi!!!0

Morning all
I won't say "good" morning as I fell off the wagon last night in the form of a bottle of wine. Was feeling a bit low and thought it would help. It didn't. Surprise surprise. I sometimes think I'm really stupid.
Still, start again today. 2/3 for me so far please Lurkio
Well done all of you that are abstaining or cutting down - Shoppy, its a lovely feeling to be able to drive home at the end of an evening isn't it!

Just signin in to say I was alcohol free last night. Volunteered to drive and finally won that battle - not sure my friends understand. A few have said you don't drink too much do you? Now the truth is i have been a minimum 5 and often 6 days a week man when I am drinking something, and quite a lot of those nights are a full bottle and at the weekend even more so, do I just hide it well, or do they have the same problem and aren't admitting it or do they just not being honest with me? Dunno.
Anyway last night was a top night. I was crying with laughter at one point. Last year I wouldn't have thought that possible when i was sober an all around me were quite tipsy so I'm headed in the right direction.
Lurkey, well done for buying milk. Very impressed:T
Keep up the good work all,

I am just going to update my sig I have done it 3/3! I honestly didn't think I would do it last night. I was trying to talk myself out of it, "you dont have a problem", "one wont do me any harm", "it is a saturday night". My boyfriend even said have a glass of wine if you want one. But that really helped actually, cause Im as stubburn as a mule!! so I then argued with him about why I shouldn't drink, and talked myself out of it!!!
Before I started this there is no way I even considered that I had a "problem" with wine, I just drank to much. But stopping is soo hard, harder than I thought it would be.£100 - £10,0000 -
ooops, just read that back and spotted the poor grammar, maybe its the lack of sleep......

Good morning everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR. yes, i know it's already the 4th but I only got back yesterday evening to discover a shiny new thread and a new challenge - at least I guess that AFJ stands for AF January.
Sorry, I haven't had time to catch up on all the last three week's worth of posts but hello to everyone whose arrived since I disappeared into the land of no internet.
I had a very alcoholic christmas and woke up too many nights sweating and feeling carp and thinking 'oh no, not again' - when will I learn???
So I would be very pleased to join in the AFJ challenge and will say that I would like 25 of the 31 days to be AF. yesterday was AF and i think also today as there is no booze in the house - so so far 1/3.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone...0 -
Good luck everyone! Most people have always found me to be very odd as I don't drink. I just don't like it and have enough probs with my weight with Chocolate, but it don't mean I don't have fun when I am out!0

This thread moves fast.
Many of the comments made are familliar to folks who have been in treatment and/or attend AA meetings.
One minute, one hour, one day at a time........
and Good Luck.

eek - didnt manage 3 out of 3. feel rubish now. went for an italian and bf ordered a bottle of wine whilst i went to the bathroom, which was strange as he never would usually. think he was still feeling bad about nye but i was really hoping not to drink. had two glasses. enjoyed it, regretted it.
i am looking forward to things getting back to normal now this week. no more reasons, excuses, just plain abstaining and feeling good for it.
am definately not drinking today or this week, i will be logging in a lot!!!!
