    Anyone else see 'Booze Britain' last night? Jeese, thats enough to make me stop drinking let alone anything else, I must put it on series link so that when my motivation is waining I can use that as inspiration. I was quite horrified at some of the going's ons, but probably quite normal really... and I am sure if someone had a camera in my face when I've been drinking, the result would be the same *cringe*.

    Also, loving the Allen Carr book so far, it is great & really is making sense to me. Although not a book I would feel comfortable reading on the way to/from work if I am honest....

    Is it any better if I say we watched it up on the wall with the projector and sound through the stereo, home made popcorn and lashings of lemonade.......in front of a roaring fire?:rotfl:

    Hi Ms London,

    Thanks for the info on the simplyfying life thread, I haven't seen that so will check it out later. I went on a weekend course which was an: introdution to meditation, it was at the Tara Centre in Derby.
    www.taracentre.org.uk
    There are other centre's as well if you google.
    Definitely no alcohol though. What troubled me was that some people could not go two nights without a drink and escaped to a local pub. They might as well of been on a jolly to Blackpool, it defeated the object totally.

    It was very calming though and nice to be in a bubble for a little while.

    They also do a summer festival which seems to be popular. I do like the principles they teach of treating all living things kindly and being aware of ones actions. Drink does definitely not play a good part in those. I do have a beautiful buddha that I brought, quite tall with a lovely pose which when I looked it up was a teaching one. Like I say I am work in progress.

    So take care and let me know if you go on any courses?
    Love and light xxxxxxxxx
    Cherish the ones you love and travel back on the road that brings you home :)

    Thanks to all three of you Ophelia, BB and mslondon

    Will look up the book and the thread - we live pretty unmaterialistic life - part green part frugal I guess - we don't really consume much at all.

    Will look up both bits and see how I can improve things here - thanks both so much for these.

    Someone stuck something else similar on my diary I think - will go look it up - or it might be on the small things thread - ta v much xx

    Just wrote a post about the 'Simple Abundance' book and decided I would dig it out again for a re-read. I decided I would start on the page for todays date (1st March). At the beginning of each day, it gives a little quote and the quote for today is :-

    "God give us the grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed;
    Courage to change the things that should be changed;
    And the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

    :eek: I find that quite spooky for me personally, considering I have made the decision just today to give up alcohol ! I beleive it is often used by the 12 step programme and I know that is not everyone's thing (not mine particularly either) so sorry if it offends anyone. I just thought it VERY appropriate to me personally today.

    The book has a quote for each day, usually around the idea of contentment and gratefulness etc. I'd like to post the quote of the day here each day if no one objects. Some are poingnant, some meaningful, some silly and some just downright funny ! :D

    Be strong Jo - you CAN do it 'cos you already have done on the other days. It will pass and you'll feel so good that you stayed focussed and controlled. It won't always be this hard, it goes in phases and an easier phase is just around the corner. Keep yourself busy and ride this storm as it will soon pass.

    Hi again everyone

    Yeah think i will manage first AF day today. This is one of my hardest days actually because i normally have a glass of vino with Sunday dinner then another and .... well you know how it goes:D Mind you have had to keep myself busy so have made most of the meals on my meal planner for this week already. Don't know what i'm supposed to do tomorrow night - another risky night as i usually have one or two to relax after Monday at work.:eek: Going to update my siggy now so i don't forget in morning. Can you put me down for 1 today then please? Good luck to everyone else today.
    Payment A Day £15 (started 17/5/14) :j
