Maman Hope you are feeling more positive today - some days can be awful can't they, and you do wonder why you are doing it. It IS worth it though!
Well, little boy is a bit better, Very happy and clingy to me today. However, when I dropped him off at nursery he sobbed his heart out. I was strong though....until I got halfway round sainsburys and called Nursery on my mobile to make sure he was ok:o . Needless to say, he was having a whale of a time.
Well, after my blip the other night I'm feeling much more positive. I think maybe I was feeling a bit....deprived...I suppose. Thinking all the good things are being taken away from me (I'm starting a diet too....don't ask!!). SO I decided that with some of the money I save on alcohol will go towards books from Amazon. When I was single I used to get loads of parcels of books delivered....I'm a real bookworm. Since having little boy I don't read half as much. So I've just had my first little parcel arrive...."Raising Boys" as suggested by the lovely Fay, "I can make you Thin" by Paul McKenna (anythings got to be worth a go lol!!) and a trashy murder novel. I was SUCH a happy bunny when it arrived this morning and am already planning coffee and a book before bed.
I suppose alcohol takes over your life to the extent you don't have time for anything else. It will be nice to get some of that time back and do something for ME other than getting completely blotto.
Sorry for the long ramble guys....hope you are all good!
Miss P

Evening everyone,
7/12 for me please Winebox.
Finished my Allan Carr book last night. It's very much about quitting rather than cutting down. The idea is that through counter-brainwashing you're able to see alcohol for the illusion it really is and understand that it offers no benefts at all. So therefore no willpower needed since you see alcohol for what it really is and don't want it any more as you can't see anything good about it.
A lot to think through - going to re-read a couple of bits at the weekend.
Hope everyone's well.

Lurkio - i was reading it and thought "thats a bit much - i am sure miss P wasnt suggesting anything like that" and then i read further just PMSL - and then the face with the plaster just finished me off!!!:rotfl:
ooohh your brave, i ve heard about people like you have been sent to MSE prison for things like that!!
seriously though miss p, my daughter used to drive me to complete dispair sometimes. i once had an incident at waitrose where i was tempted to leave her there. but... as sure as the nights wont always get dark at 4pm, she changed. and before you know it you are through toddler hell. she is three and half now and touch wood we definately seem to be through the worse of it. its hell at the time though and its definately harder than work. i used to look forward to work days (god, that sounds awful out of loud, but its true)
had a glass of reduced alcohol wine last night, was rank, dont recommend, so my total is 7 days.
gp, was reading through the low carb thread on here, what do you think? seems really extreme. i dont eat carbs at night cos i am obsessed with having a flat stomach, but the whole time thing seems so extreme. i go by the - breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper. but when i dont drink i really struggle in the evenings with snacking. having said that, its not as bad as it was
what a ramble, sorry guys!!!
xxxxxxx:eek:

Sounds like Carr just substituted the word alcohol for nicotine
While there are similarities between the 2, I think that one has to approach the giving up/cutting down with alcohol differently to nicotine
Just my theory. I could do nicotine by going cold turkey, alcohol is one very differnt beast altogether.
Alcohol helped me change the way I was feeling, but ciggies have never done that.
Good luck anyway, but you should maybe use Carr as one of the methods you employ to help you quit, not put all your eggs in that one basket0 -
agree with GC.
they are very different beasts ...both are dangerous but,in my mind, alcohol has the power to destroy so much, given the chance.....
keep well, everyone. For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
12/28 for me WB please.
Think I may have done lardloss a bit of damage as I've just finished off best part of a toblerone.
And not the small size either.
Perhaps I'm secretly trying to sabotage my efforts so that I don't have to do the parachute jump...0 -
Who are we to argue with that GP. You've lost over a stone, you deserve a treat. Even if it is a big toblerone
5/11 for me please winebox
I think I'm slowly clawing up towards on track for my target this month. It wasn't a great start to the month in terms of drink free days.
I think I am beginning to get to sleep faster when I go to bed. This is big for me as I am a rubbish sleeper. I have heard it said (not sure whether it was here or somewhere else) that if you tell yourself you won't sleep then it is quite possible that you won't. I am therefore going to bed with a more positive attitude and that combined with the reduced alcohol intake since new year seems to be beginning to pay dividends.
Still wake up in the night to pay a visit though but thats not so bad...:o
Had a bit of snow earlier but it seems to have turned to rain. Forcast is for more snow though.

Um....there might have been a packet of minstrels involved at some point too.
Ahh, buggritt. I know somewhere which is really nice to walk on Saddleworth moor, so I'm going to go up there on Sunday I think and burn it off.
Quick joke before I go to bed....
"I was walking past the fridge, and I could have sworn I heard the sound of my spring onions singing BeeGees Songs"
"No"
