  • Morning everyone

All this talk of allen Carr books has propelled me onto Amazon and have just order "Easy Way to control drinking". Even splashed out on next day - figured the cost of the postage was less than a bottle of wine !

That'll be my bedtime reading for a while. Also sorted out my old cross-stitch box this morning. Haven't done any in ages so thought I would get it out so I could have something to do with my hands of an evening other than holding a wine glass!

Have good Mondays all (if a bit snowy!!!)

    Miss P
    xx

Call me nosey if you like, but I'm curious. Judging by the timing of posts, most people on here seem to go off to bed really early. Is this something you've always done or something you do to keep you AF?

I tend to go to bed earlier when I have an AF day and I have a hot bath and try and relax more, maybe it's a comfort thing?

Good for you Molly not giving in.:T

Brrrr, a bit cold out today, will be an AF day for me again today.:j

    Hope you are all okay.:A

  • 15 for January was a failure to meet my target.

    But on a positive note...

Saving of £75 compared to December or £160 compared to a year ago.

Exercising more, feeling a lot healthier and drinking less on days when I have drank.

    Hi everyone,

I got quite upset at the thought that I will never feel like that again...I felt quite sad and even thought ...is it worth it...all the stress of not drinking....I really really want to be able to just drink socially.I feel like I am now too serious about life and need to lighten up.I never seem to laugh as much or dance as much ,or do ANYTHING;) as much now I am permenantly sober.
Ohhhhh sorry for the waffle when I should be encouraging you all.Everyone is doing so well and is really enthusiastic.
    Sorry:o
Good luck to you all cutting down/giving up.
    Take care

MP hugs - well done for resisting - a tough one being out like that - well done you. I think you hit alot of things on the head there - I seem to be captain serious (and for me I am very grumpy as well).

I am sure we will find a way to lighten up, release things and be more fun etc without having to have that little head switch off thing.

you keep so many folk focussed and strong - you are a proper good inspriation you know xxx If its any help I find you fun and positive and enthusiastic.

AF today for me and yesterday WB xx

I rarely drink myself, but I'm currently studying psychology at university and one of my teachers specialises in alcohol addiction. He's written a book on how to control problem (not extreme) drinking. I thought I'd recommend it because I've read it and I think it seems like it would be good. You can find the cheapest here:

I will be ok.,but I really am wondering now if I could drink in moderation:eek: The thought keeps popping into my head.
We are going away soon for a short break for birthdays/wedding anniversary to a little cottage out in the wilds.Am planning to cook us some lovely romantic meals with candles etc and a glass of bubbly would go down just nicely.:o

MP well done......it's obviously sowed a seed though. The question is one that only you can answer - I can well understand the temptation, but what if it went pear-shaped??

  • Well done on staying strong Molly Polly. Won't offer any advice as I can't imagine being Af for as long as you have. At least you didnt go with the impulse response and now have a chance to reflect what you really want going forward.

I dont go to bed particularly early on Af nights maman I just tend to log out of mse :D

First day under the belt :j and even better some friends turned up late last night and because one of them was celebrating a big birthday we got the port and cheese out (one of my favourites) and I had tea instead. There was no way I was ruining a precious AF day that late at night:rotfl:
