Oh dear had a car bump on the way to work today and feel a bit worse for wear as a result after 2 sugary cups of tea. Even tho it is not my fault looks like it will cost me a fortune as I live far away from work

Deffo AFD for me today as a result so that's a good thing.

Want to sleep off the feelings of shock now as feel a bit rubbish. At least none of us had any serious injuries which is a blessing all by its self.

  • Sorry to hear about your accident fedupandskint. Hope the car repairs don't cost too much. Was the accident caused by this awful weather?

Needstochange Well done you! Great willpower!

Thanks Needstochange, Miss Piggy and Mollypolly for your kind thoughts.

I am taking care of myself by keeping warm in bed, will continue to have sugary tea and hoping the shock wears off soon. Will see how I feel later on.

Yes it was caused by the weather, still could have been much worse

Was it because of the weather? I'm lucky enought to work 11 minutes (by foot) from home so I don't need to drive...

...however you may be pleased to know I went on my ar5e this morning. Luckily no one saw, and only my pride was hurt. I have a lot of padding.

    Hope you're ok.

I'm slightly obsessive about recording what I spend day-today and I put everything down on spreadsheet (I do this both as a spending diary and because I'm a bit paranoid about fraud and stuff)

I've just been looking at some of the previous entries that I've marked down as 'BEER' and the totals read as:

    June - £79.36
    July - No entries
    August £32.90
    September - £28.98
    October - £24.83
    November - £65.14

    £230 in 6 months.

The scary thing is, this is ONLY from receipts from SPECIFICALLY from off-licences.

When we've done food shopping and got a few bottles of wine or cans, that's all gone on my spreadsheet under 'Groceries', so that detail is lost (and we nearly always got something...).

Also, this is just my spending - when Mrs GP has bought stuff for me, I don't have anyway of calculating it.

I've got no way of counting how much I've spent on beer in restaurants or cash that I've spent in pubs.

I'm scared to even hazard a guess at how much I've spent on the stuff...I think a thousand a year would be a very conservative estimate. It's probably between 1K - 1.5K?

    That's unbelievable....

I can't remember who asked now about stopping up late, I used to stay up drinking, and then when I stopped drinking I went to bed early every night!
After a week or two I started staying up later, I would get into a film or be on the computer and not notice the time. It was around this time that I realised I had broken the habit and after my weekend away I am now finding it natural to not drink tonight as its a week night.
Fedup hope your feeling ok after the accident x

GP I've never kept a record of what I've spent but would probably average 3-4 bottles of wine a week. Average cost £5 a bottle so thats over £1000 a year. Very scary considering I'm on a DMP and owe lots of money! If I put that money to my debt I'd be debt free in half the time!

  • Previously - 7 bottles a week - probably couple cans g&t - about 40 quid??

My money now goes in my jar on my desk everyday - stopped for a while but need the motivation again somehow - xmas and new year took it out of me back to old ways again so all good positives needed again to keep me going on straight and narrow.

Quite sad really i say what it is I would (BUT DONT) buy today - like 'bottle chilean red, or auzzy chardonay) and stick in the cash - I can then use the money for me for treats or not as the case may be - but its mine as i would have spent it previoulsy.

    Told you I was sad.
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
