Hi glasgowgirl...what would I do?

go and not drink and enjoy the gig...it's what you paid your money for. You could, if you wanted, get slaughtered at any time - why ruin a night because you're drinking to keep up with your pal.

either be up front and say you're cutting down or say you have plans for the day after, or you're watching the pennies, or you need to drive next day or work or have tummy ache etc.

don't drink for anyone else's feelings...your life...your gig...enjoy it!

I understand your dilemma. I have a night out planned in March. Its a colleagues 21st birthday party and me and a couple of others are meeting up at one of their houses first for curry and drinks. I know it could turn into a heavy night drink wise and really want to NOT drink. I'm ashamed to say I'm going to pretend to I'm poorly and can't drink. Easier than getting hammered and regretting it the next day. Or, If I feel strong-willed enough by then, I'll tell them the truth.

Its up to you what you do. Remember, you don't have to keep up with anyone.

Jo, please don't get despondent, I can remember how you helped me in the early days and I am so grateful for that. Remember how we chatted about depression and alcohol? I think that conversation might be worth revisiting with your GP? Please don't struggle alone- we're all here, and this thread will not be the same with out you- keep posting.

Seems like quite a few are struggling at the moment? Don't- this is probably the best decision you have made for years-I know stopping drinking saved my life, I was such an alcoholic I was nearly dead last year, but stopping has given me my life back- and I treasure it, and I have no idea really why I put my family and kids through this but being clear headed and sober means I can try and make ammends- and maybe one day forgive myself?

Best of luck everyone-cutting down or giving up, it just makes sense guys doesn't it?

No you're not!! My bestest, oldest (not in age!) mate is a scriptwriter for EE and she won't even tell me!!! :mad:
