  • Just wanted to pop in to offer hugs/support to anyone who wants some:o

I had some wine with my meal with friends last night but it wasnt too much and I enjoyed it for what it is for a change. Today will be AFD for me as I really want to hit my target and perhaps get another one in before the end.

Jo please keep posting. This thread is so much more than the January challenge and if you look at the number of days you have stayed AF then you have been really successful. One of the problems with targets I guess is that we can feel down if we dont hit them rather than focusing on our achievments.

"Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life."

So true!! Do what's best for yourself Jo but don't feel you "shouldn't" post just cos you don't want to count your days...I don't want you to either cos you've done more AFDs than me ;) :rotfl: . I'm really sorry if I'm in any way responsible for stirring things up for you ref your Dad & so not exactly helping you stay on that wagon. Will see you back next week for Feb Challenge if not before - of course we'll have you!!

Lots of struggles on here at the mo....I'm sure it's to do with the time of year...whether I've had a drink or not I cannot get up in the mornings & I feel really sluggish all the time, & appathetic. Or is that just pathetic?

Lurky pls can you update my score to 11, ta
  • Well I'm on 23/26, still just about on target. I celebrated the birth of my niece at the weekend with 2 glasses of fizz (and didn't sneakily finish off the bottle while others weren't looking, for a change!). Hoping to make it AF until Sunday, but we'll see.
    ...nothing to see here...

Hi everyone, hope everyone is feeling ok today x
I really have turned a corner and I have completely forgotton about alcohol. I know that sounds like a stupid thing to say, but I can go a whole day without thinking about it, I feel just like I used to (before I discovered wine)and it feels amazing.
Dont get me wrong I havent given wine up, I have had 3 non-AFD so far this month (1 last weekend, and 2 the weekend before) and I'm just going with the flow now, having a couple of glasses on a saturday night if I want to.
I feel really lucky that I nipped my drinking in the bud before it became a problem, and thats thanks to all of you xxx
Also I have now lost half a stone!

Am away quite a bit after tomorrow so am going to start rounding up names / targets of who wants to carry on in February. If you didn't reach target in Jan (c'est moi :o ) forget it!! Well, no, maybe learn from it, but move on & try another month. If a month's too daunting, do it by week as there are exctly 4. I'm not going to copy over Jan's list cos there are quite a few names who have discreetly vanished (tho lurking??) during the month.

For myself, can't decide whether to go for a target number of AFDs, or just aim to be 100% AFWOMO (does that mean anything in geordie?!). I hoped to at least do the 100% womo bit in Jan even if not reaching the AFD target but boogered that up (but, only on 2 days! - & as NTC said, let's focus on what we've achieved not what we haven't). OK, Jan ain't over yet but I won't quite reach target due to "commitments" thurs/fri/sat this week  .

Right...sticks neck out...WB aim = 100% afwomo & target 15 AFDs, just over half the month instead of just under half.

    Hey.

I will read through the whole thing when I am not at work, but right now I am swaying more towards the giving up, not cutting down. I think its a social thing too, and not drinking is almost frowned upon and there is a stigma attached. I wonder if all my friends need to be changed in order to do this??
