I found it:
Post by Spring Watch Girl:
"Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life."
I hope you are okay and reading this thread SWG, you've not posted for sometime, let us know how you're doing

Fay, what Spring Watch Girl says is definately true, I stopped drinking for 4 months back in 2006 and what I felt was like a different person. Looking forward to feeling that again and not actually letting it slip away this time!
Just wanted to say that you guys have made such a difference in my life that I can't explain the support and love (yeah sigh love) I feel embrace the moment my hippyness comes to the fore yet again.
Looking forward to feeling sparkly inside and out - good luck to you all and well done those who managed the festives sober.
Away to get ready for dinner with chums. AF wine in the cupboard to make me strong - thus far aside from one bottle wine all the alcohol bought in for NY is undrunk. Thats a first.

fortunately for me i've only ever had a penchant for lager and only occasionally a vodka & coke. once the kids came along and i split from partner i was more or less constantly drinking in the house cos i couldn't get out. i used to get a crate of cans for about £15 with the intention to only have them of a weekend but the temptation was too much - it ended up thru the week too.
i didn't enjoy drinking as such but it was the only thing i had for 'me'. but it got to the stage where the kids were seeing me 'merry' and which they referred to jokingly on occasion and i was horrified and thought no way - i don't want my kids seeing me drinking and thinking its normal, also i'm the only carer for my kids so if anything happened to me whilst i was drunk or if i ended up getting properly addicted i don't know who would look after them. Alcohol or kids erm kids and kids every time.
don't get me wrong i missed it like mad for a month or so but somehow managed and its the best thing i ever did. now the kids are older and i've got my freedom back but if i go out i drink coke and couldn't be happier also, i live in liverpool and after 6pm parking anywhere is free so i can have a great meal out and just drive home so life's so much easier.
Thank you so much for this post, while reading it i realised everything you said referred to me, i split with my husband earlier this year and have drank alcohol everyday since, not actually getting rolling drunk but enough to stop me being capable of looking after my children and praying they wernt ill thru the night.
Im more of a wine drinker than a lager but i found myself polishing off a bottle a night some weeks and it had to stop. So today i have cleaned out the fridge and cupboards of alcohol and put them all in the shed and locked it, i know if they are out there i wont go looking for them, its when they are in the fridge and i can see them that i think "why not" and open a bottle of wine.
So heres to the rest of my life, not with out alcohol but with out drinking it in the house, and hopefully this will help me to lose my excess weight and also raise my bank account funds.
So thank you for this post and long may i stay on the alcohol free straight and narrow.
Thank youDFW red and green memberDoing my best to lose weight and save money0 -
