  • No good suggestions re the sleep RC except to say maybe by drinking less you need less sleep anyway. I know drink comatoses me but that is not good sleep so could be you just need less.

You are so right, I don't need a huge amount of sleep, unfortunately good lady wife needs at least ten hours and I probably need 6-7 :o

Seems to do the opposite to me - just to be awkward ;) ; I sleep badly when I've had a lot to drink & very heavily when I've been sober (ie I didn't really sleep in 2008).

Gosh winebox you must be tired...;)

  • Hi everyone.

Wanna hear a story? I've been a bottle of wine a night drinker for a long while...not every night but most. Sometimes it can be two. I did give up drinking when pregnant and didn't find it hard really. When I joined here in October I limited myself to two bottles a week more as a money saving exercise than anything else. But as christmas got closer that kind of went out of the window. In 3 days this week I have almost finished a bottle of vodka. I am probably similar to many when I say my friends/social life is/was a drinking culture. At the end of october my aunt, an alcoholic, died of liver failure so I suppose that got me thinking too. I joined this thread last night knowing I had about an inch left in the vodka bottle. I didn't drink last night, tonight I'm going to finish the bottle then I know I have none in the house. Then from tomorrow I can join you 'proper' iykwim. Good luck all.

Ive been to the supermarket to get a few bits of shopping, I had never noticed before how many places the wine is! On the way in, halfway round and then again before the tills. I almost got a bottle, to just have one glass (well it is friday) why do I try and talk myself into drinking! I didn't get one though but I really want one, the shop shuts at 9pm so if I keep busy till then I will be ok. Hope everyone else is doing ok x

    Hi

Had a bit of a revelation today so to speak. My OH and me were having a "discussion" today and she mentioned that we never go anywhere and just sit in night after night and it is getting a bit of a chore. Could have done without that revelation to be honest what with BR looming and everything.

It made me think that I have been really stressed lately and the only reason I dont want to go anywhere after about 2pm is the fact that I want to start drinking and dont want to go anywhere. Drink rules my life and I need to chill and get out and about and not get in at 2 and then drink everynight or very soon I will be doing it in a bedsit on my own.

At least I have a chance to rectify and hence the reason for the can going earlier. It was whilst I was drinking this I had my revelation

Also found out it is better for me to have NO beer in the house as opposed to a few cans and think I am strong enough to resist them.

Day 1 for me tomorrow 100%

Hi YM, i cant have anything in the house. the only way i could do it was to be brutal and remove everything.the habit thing for me was and is very hard to control. wine was my friend, have you ever heard the ceyrs matthews song "chardonay"? i was/ am like that. its like an ex or a love that you know is no good for you and you want to hate...but when they call you still go running. i think its about drawing the final line.
i still have the case my grandad bought me down stairs in the garage and i am going to have to get rid very very soon. but surprisingly as i cant see it and its sealed up very tightly i havnt thought about too too much.

of out to meet the boyf (if he still is!) and i am praying they serve coffee. i really really dont want to drink. i hope it doesnt turn into one of "those" talks..wish me luck

have a good af night everyone. i check on you all later
