I haven't drunk for a while now, and get tired. It is because:- You are listening to your body more, and not drowning out what it is trying to tell you with alcohol
- Alcoholic drinks have a lot of sugar in, so without booze your blood sugar levels maybe be lower than they have been
However, overall you feel MUCH more energetic, especially in the mornings0 -
Day 2 under my belt. :j
Well done those that managed it yesterday ... and well done to those that are trying .... all little steps in the right direction. Being here is the first big step I guess.
I'm with YM - I can't have ANY in the house - I will drink it all in one night!
I'm in a bit of a quandary. My counsellor said not to just stop completely, which is why I put down 15/31, but to cut down gradually. However, I know if I buy some for tonight, then I will just want to drink it all !
I also know that withdrawal sets in with me late on the second day and is worse on the third (was very shaky in twitchy last night!)
Do i buy a single bottle of beer today to lessen and control the withdrawal or do I try and do without?
I know if I have one, I will probably persuade Mrs BHB to go and get me another couple, cause once I start the withdrawal won't go away properly until I've had at least 3.
:o:o
Now I've written that down, it seems obvious that I shouldn't go and buy one for tonight, and struggle through but its very hard isn't it?
Oh well ..... will have to resist as long as I can, unfortunately we have a local offy open until 10pm.
Best Wishes for today
BHB

Well done BHB!!! :T :T :T
How about this for a suggestion..... you've got two out of two...... why not go for three out of three, then you can have one tomorrow
*copies text to paste in tomorrow*
Alternatively - go and get ONE at 5 to 10, then you won't be able to get any more
Day 2 under my belt, too :j :j :j
We have loads of alcohol in the house. Only really bothered me when there was beer, funnily enuogh. Wine & spirits can sit there and I won't worry about it, but if I see a tin in the fridge........
Well done all. I didn't think this would be as popular as it is. I'm having reall trouble keeping up with everyone
Will try.......
Well done all!!Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

"Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life."Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

Woke up feeling very good today:j
Not sure what today will be it will depend on what happens this evening. A Friday without booze was one thing but not sure I can manage a Saturday:eek: on the other hand it would be good to get another under the belt. Decisions decisions.
I am not good with booze in the house either although I do have a few cans of beer in the fridge. Not really a beer drinker so they will stay put.
Good luck everyone and BHB I think the idea of waiting until later to buy your beer is great. I bet by then you will not bother.
Off to change signature after yesterday29th Feb Quit Day :j0 -
BHB, I'm a little concerned about your post if you don't mind me saying and this is what I struggle with when trying to quit. I am the same as you and don't get withdrawals till day 2 then worse on day 3. But I am with you that I would find it difficult to buy just 1 and stick to that. So I'm afraid I can't offer you any advice but I think somehow you do need access to alcohol just in case but it can't be in your face iykwim?? Have you discussed this with Mrs BHB?DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

Hi Jo,
Mrs BHB is hanging onto the side of the wagon too
Oh God - she's got PMT too ........ :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Its a case that if I manage until 10 tonight (without me killing her or her killing me :rotfl:) , I know I'll be fine until tomorrow. But I think what the counsellor was getting at is that if I leave it 3 days then I normally go straight back to how I was and drink as much as I was, then am back where I started. But If I have just one or two to take the edge off it, then I won't 'plunge' back in the deep end ...... if you know what I mean.
I have to say the my withdrawals are light compared to some, luckily. Its just a case of being a bit shakey both inside and out ... very jittery IYKWIM.
I guess I'm lucky in a way that I'm not a 'huge' drinker, just a regular drinker of 8-10 units a day.
Best Wishes
