"Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life."

Morning everyone
Patchoulli and Biscotte hope you are feeling a bit better this morning
Shoppy you must be so excited after seeing your scan
AF yesterday for me so thats 12 for please Lurkio.
AF days do seem to be getting a lot easier now as I break some of the habits. I read a great book about habits at the weekend and apparently it takes a least 28 repetitions of the new behavior to install new habits so I have a way to go and I think that does need to be consistent so I need to keep my eye on the goal.
Have a great week everyone:T29th Feb Quit Day :j0 -
Morning all,
Lovely news Shoppy - so pleased for you.
Life in Barsham Zoo sounds chaotic!!
Definitely got to get the cutter-downers wagonette (it was me! it was me!) in motion again today my score of 8/18 is looking a bit feeble - first time I've gone below 50%. Well, yesterday was, to be pedantic.
Re the debate about people going straight back on the sherbets as soon as January is over...I've never seen it like that, I was hoping we were all going to do this every month cos I know damn well it's got to be a lifestyle choice not a one-month wonder & at the moment this thread is keeping me going through times I probably wouldn't have bothered left to my own devices...it might be a bit unfair to expect Lurky to keep score for the entire year though  !!!!0 -
Thanks for your comments everyone, it was so lovely to see the little one swimming around!! I have felt little tiny flutterings on a couple of occasions (but OH says it is probably wind LOL) can't wait for my next scan at the end of March! It is all being a bit clouded atm though cos I am having to keep it quiet at work due to redundancy threats, I am terrified if they find out I will be added to the list!!!0

Good Morning.
Well done to all giving up/cutting down.
Exciting news about the scan Shoppy.
Winebox...I agree..this definitely has to be a 'lifestyle switch'. and if as GC says some people will fall off the wagonette:D at the end of challenge ONE then Lurky wont have too much scoring to do:D :rotfl:
Happy days everyone.
Love Mollypollyxxxx:happylove :happylove

17 now for me please Lurky
Hope you all have a good day and I agree. This is ,hopefully, a life style change for me. I am not going to stop altogether but I will not buy any for in the house and not sit in drinking night after night on my own for no reason.
I am aiming to only have the odd one if I am out and as that is only once or twice a year so not a lot
TRC summed it up for me below
The key for me is to return to moderation after this challenge is over. That is be free to drink whenever I want but actually not keep opening something everyday.
Catch up later

Morning all
Been pretty carp over the past few days but have set myself a new challenge from today to be AF till Friday so 4 consecutive days (we will see how we feel on Friday about continuing). I need to give myself some lee way (sp?), but I think these week days are managable  gonna plan to watch a film tonight with popcorn, choklit and other yummy stuff.....must remember to get some decaf coffee! I've got a 2 litre bottle of orange squash in the fridge ready for when I get home.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Happy Monday! Had to put that as I'm fed up with hearing how today is the most depressing day of the year!
Well, I managed to make one can of cider last for two hours on Friday evening, not so much that I was savouring the taste, more a case of 'I'll finish this damned can if it's the last thing I do'. Saturday night we were at a party, lots of drink flowing, plenty of it down my throat. I was extremely happy to be back on the AF wagon yesterday.
Anyway, after allowing myself the option of drinking on Fri/Sat/Sun, I amazed myself by staying AF on Sunday, so could you add another one on for me please Lurkio.
And thank you to everyone on here for making me actually believe that I could do this. Until I found this thread I felt pretty isolated, at least with regard to my drinking habits. You wouldn't believe how much of a difference it's made to me to know that I'm not!0 -

      errr, I only put my name down for January..... I'll nominate someone to take over for Febany volunteers?

I think I said the same thing to Mrs Lurky just last night (through the bars of the cage, obviously)
jo - good luck to you! Little steps.......Andraste wrote:Until I found this thread I felt pretty isolated, at least with regard to my drinking habits. You wouldn't believe how much of a difference it's made to me to know that I'm not!
