Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well this weekend?
Lurky, hi and hugs xxx when you do totals tomorrow can you please put me down for 17 afd. I did have to work today and nearly went for a pub meal after but decided against it. Temptation and all that so got myself a nice salad and some becks af to try as everyone on here seems to give it the thumbs up. :T
Winebox glad you are back sweetheart and everything went well. Big hugs xxx
Miamoo and Polaroid well done on just having one small glass, (thats an achievement in itself) hugs xxx
Yellow Monkey good to see the icons have returned. Hugs xxx
Gc just read your post, very thought provoking? I am always interested in what you have to say as you have lived through the nightmare so to speak. It is reading what you and others have been through that makes me realise that I needed to take a grip on my drinking before it became totally out of hand. I feel lucky that I have found this thread and the wonderful people in it. Your posts may not suit everyone as you shoot from the hip but I for one wish to say THANKYOU. xxx
To everyone else take care have a good Saturday night, its casualty later. (Got to say its fab when you remember what happened last week)
Catch you later
Stay Lucky

Hi all
Well, last night hubby came home from work and had bought us each a bottle of wine for the weekend.
I thoroughly savoured every drop of my half bottle of Pinot Grigot....and am going to enjoy the rest this evening. Then, I will go back to Sun-Thurs on the Becks alcohol free plan.
I wanted to quit completely, but am I enjoying a couple of glasses....and as long as I can just keep to one bottle, over two weekend nights - well, I'll settle for that. I was a 6 bottles a week plus a few Buds girl prior January.
The biggie will be tomorrow evening - when I will hopefully go back to the Becks without a problem. If I find it a struggle, then I'm really going to have to think long and hard about trying to quit completely, and maybe getting some support (other than you fantastic guys).
Good luck to everyone
Hugs

Feel I deserve a pat on the back. Have just been out to the corner shop....braving a gale!!...had run out of ciggies. To get to the shop have to walk past my 'local' and of course the corner shop is where many many many bottles of wine have been bought. But I came out with, ciggies and milk. I did look in the chiller cabinets to see if they had any AF becks as it's been raved about but there was none.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0

Well done Payback- theres fortitude for you!!! Congrats! Really impressed by the willpower of the reducers too- I have never been able to sleep in a house which has a half full bottle of wine in the fridge, if I didn't sneak it and drink it in the night, I'd dream about it and wake up with a taste for wine as if I'd been craving in my sleep!!!! Thank god the days of leftover wine for sunday breakfast are long gone.
Hope everyone is OK tonight and on target (or there abouts)- take care- Eselt.0 -
I thought I was doing quite well today but I have been having cravings this evening for the three cans of lager in my fridge. Stupid of me to leave them there ready really. I am not having them as I want this day AF.
I have been trying to distract myself with housework and I am making a late supper instead. It's 9.10 now so I will try and get a bath and read my book and have an early night instead.
Hope you all are okay.:AHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Well done everyone, makes you wonder really when you see all the money thats thrown at alcohol health campaigns and services, and actually something as simple as a supportive online community like this can be so effective. Perhaps we need to take the mystery out of the whole alcohol recovery industry, and admit that regardless of the imput of the 'professionals', the most successful way to beat this is to recognise we need to draw upon our own inner strength and willpower- no amount of therapy, meds, rehab will help in the the long run if your hearts not really in it.
Too right, eselt, I know the power of all of you is helping me. It's far more difficult to ignore my target when I know I'll have to come on here and admit it publicly!!!
Put me down for 7/13 AF when you next update Lurkio. Glad to read there are a lot more 'cutters down' on here than I thought. I'll be back on my wagonette come Monday.0 -
Tonight didn't go exactly as planned, we have shared the wine which was left (I was meant to be AF tonight) I have a feeling drinking at the weekend is going to be harder than I thought. Pathoulli I would love to know how you get on with drinking at the weekend only, as thats my goal.£100 - £10,0000

GC i completely appreciate your posts; but i really hope it puts no one off. we are on different journeys; and maybe they are right and maybe they are wrong. i dont know, and as we are people speaking to each other on a thread thats as far as it gets. i look around in my every day life and see so many people with alchohol problems that they dont even realise they have and i am just grateful that i have found support here. i am dont want to stop drinking forever, to be completely honest i am afraid of the thought of shutting it out completely; but been on here has helped me address a huge part of life that was/is wrong and i really think it has helped others in that way too.
i am sorry, i just took offence to the "soon every one will be back to their old ways" not necessarily, it doesnt have to be like that.
i completely respect what you have been through but to me if some says they want to stop drinking one day a week or every single day, it doesnt matter - it is always going to be a battle.
sorry for rambling just got a bit ..(need a glass of wine...iykwim)

well done all...
I had a revisit of old times tonight...was out doing a child drop-off later than normal and we'd run out of milk...so off to the late night shop and the scene of more than one "oh I'll just have a casual litre of knock-off smirnoff vodkas please" as you do, late at night, because you're having a party for one at your house and no-one else is invited.....except mr diet coke.....
and I smiled to myself that I was tempting fate so blatantly and chuckling at the counter that I wasn't in need of any of their silly liquids...just milk please....
and then on the radio there's a bit about american country music saying how great tennessee whisky is blah blah blah...and there's this song about how a woman stopped a man needing his liquor....some odd lyrics moaning about the dryness at the bottom of the glass and the emptiness of the bottom etc...and the title was "stoned on you"...quite surreal....
anyway....even now, there was the unbidden challenge to "go on, f*** it up" and I am thankful that I am able to walk into danger and come out with the bottle I went in for.....
take care everyone...For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070
