  • Just posted this on another thread but it's quite funny, something to brighten up yucky Monday morning;
Doctor was addressing a large audience:
"The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of
    us sitting here, years ago.
Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining.
Chinese food is loaded with MSG. High fat diets can be disastrous, and
none of us realizes the long- term harm caused by the germs in our
    drinking water.
But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all
    have, or will, eat it.
Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and
suffering for years after eating it?"
After several seconds of quiet, a 75-year-old man in the front row
raised his hand, and softly said, "Wedding Cake."

    lol like it greenbynature.

My friend sent me this the other day:

A woman walks into the benefits office, trailed by 15 kids...

'WOW,' the social worker exclaims, 'Are they ALL yours?

'Yeah they are all mine,' the flustered mother sighs, having heard that question a thousand times before. She says, 'Sit down Terry.' All the children rush to find seats.

'Well,' says the social worker, 'then you must be here to sign up. I'll
    need all your childrens names.'

'This one's my oldest - he is Terry.'

    'OK, and who's next?'

'Well, this one he is Terry, also.'

The social worker raises an eyebrow but continues. One by one, through the oldest four, all boys, all named Terry. Then she is introduced to the eldest girl, named Terri. 'All right,' says the caseworker. 'I'm seeing a pattern here. Are they ALL named Terri?'

Their Mother replied, 'Well, yes-it makes it easier. When it is time to
get them out of bed and ready for school, I yell, 'Terry!' An'
when it's time for dinner, I just yell 'Terry!' an' they all come runnin.' An' if I need to stop the kid who's running into the street, I just yell
'Terry' and all of them stop. It's the smartest idea I ever had, namin'
    them all Terry.'

The social worker thinks this over for a bit, then wrinkles her forehead
and says tentatively, 'But what if you just want ONE kid to come, and not the whole bunch?'

'I call them by their surnames!'

    Evening all,

Blimey it's like an episode of casualty in here tonight!!!

Piggin - I know what you mean about the old clock ticking, turned 39 in January and desperately want to have another baby, just not happening. I know it's silly, we don't have the money or the space for another one but tell that to my ovaries!!!

Exactly! We don't have the money or the space either and my OH is hopelessly disorganised with money!

    £10.23 to Virgin today.

I have just updated my spreadsheet and I can afford to pay £20 (plus relevant number of pence) every day this week - woohoo!

I have decided that my littlie that I transferred to my online saver yesterday will go to my LTSB card instead - otherwise I shall just get confused!

    HELLO PEOPLE,

i've been a lurker for years got into debt 7-8 years ago when i gave up work to have children-never posted properly as nevr had access to internet, have wireless at home now, so much better!! I've always been inspired by ideas on this site and tried my hardest from home to take the advice and ideas to try and clear my debts....am getting closer and closer everyday. I've been choosing the smallest debt and concentrating all my efforts to pay extra money off of it and when its gone moving onto the next one. I was quite pleased last month as paid so much to capital 1 (through cabot as sold the debt) they said if i can pay £210 for 3 months then they'll accept that as clearing the debt. Which would mean we only have 2 debts left!!! out of original 17!!!
So I paid last month.....then to my dismay my husband-we dont know why him and not me-got a letter from lowell financial saying they'd bought the debt and we owed them the full £2171....no record of the payments we've been making for years, I'm so dismayed i want to throw in the towel :(
    I hate debt collection agencies

Oh no brain! That's terrible. Did Cabot not put it in writing? I am dealing with them on behalf of hubby at the moment. I have launched a 2 pronged attack on them and MBNA. One of my arguments with Cabot is that they cannot provide a true copy of the original agreement. This means they are not legally entitled to pursue for any money. This means you are in control over how you manage your debt. MBNA are being dealt with by FOS as the account has been indispute over PPI for ages so they shouldn't have sold it on.

Let me know if you need anymore info. There's lots on this site about credit agreements and the consumer action group (cag)forum too. I have no time or respect for debt collectors and have only ever dealt with them if absolutely necessary. I prefer to talk to the original creditors.

Also, were there any charges or anything included in the total outstanding?

Keep posting on this thead regardless. It's a lovely friendly thread where you will get lots of support, Take care hun xx

I've just noticed - is your husband's name not on the account? Was it only in your name? Unless it had both names or is secured on a joint property they shouldn't be chasing him.
