........
I happened to move away from the ledge and suddenly 6 of my " victims " had decided to try and get me back ..... and the cheeky s*ds were using my snowballs ! .......yes ...... my snowballs !..... I can't believe that not one of them hit me ! ..... I was running around like a mad woman avoiding them ! ...... Terri. I love your posting style. They are absolute classics. You should print them off and hang them in the national gallery.
As for the credit card cheque. I did feel uneasy at first about it but I'm pretty sure I did the right thing in the end. It wasn't caused by spending splurges. I did it to
a) pay my tax bill (which would be at a higher - though pretty reasonable - interest rate)
b) pay my accountant
c) pay another credit card off that is at a much higher rate
d) pay off my overdraft that is also at a much higher rate
e) to pay some bills that are going out by direct debit over the next few days. This is the only item that I had reservations about. However, these DDs stood to put me back in overdraft or, even worse, they may have just put me over my OD limit without that cheque.
f) Another reservation here. I allowed a bit extra to give me a small cushion in case the bad weather is a bit more prolonged than is usual.
However, regarding (f), having that small cushion is OK these days as I am far less wasteful with money than I was before. I haven't got it perfect yet but in three short months I have gone 75% of the way to turning around lifelong bad habits. So when I do get it a bit wrong, I need to remember that.
What's that line in Desiderate "Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans".
My self assessment of my new found frugality is "Doing well. Still room for more improvement." I'll take that for now.
With the CC cheque, the key for me is to up my income and further reduce my spending over the next few months. I will be doing both.
The genealogy is taking a back seat for the moment. I've done the relatively easy stuff with it so far. The rest is going to be more time consuming. I prefer to spend my non work time at the moment with planning to cut spending and increase income. This involves gradually clearing the garage so that I can save the £9 a week rent (a business expense but any saving there means larger profit so more take home pay) and targetting potential new customers. I will also be drastically reducing my advertising spend with Yello Pages. This is because, in my line of work, it is more profitable to target the (right) customers rather than letting the customers find me.
Glad to see you are posting well Terri and best wishes to you.0 -
