  • Hi Flylady
Some people like to add their regular monthly payments to pad but others like me don't add it, it's entirely upto you.
I include my minimum payment to Barclayard in my PAD, but not my loan DD - this is because i am using PAD to clear my overdraft and Barclaycard and won't get an accurate picture of how quickly the debt is clearing if I include my loan payment.
Once those two are clear though, the loan payment will definitely be included!

Flower - I add regular payments but always add something to it even it's only 50p so I have made an extra payment too xx

OK, so it's make your own mind up type of thing, which is great...

I think i will just add up my PAD's daily that I am paying into the savings pot at the moment, and as they are all going towards our Vanquis Card (48% APR.. ) to get rid of that and everything else is on minimum payment until it's paid, I will only include that DD payment each month...

Thanks for your help guys... :D

    Are you SERIOUS 48% OMG!!

Is that actually allowed? Can you not get a 0% balance transfer on another card, or a lower rate guaranteed on another card, or a loan from bank instead?

That must be so hard to make any inroads into paying off? Well done so far :T

Yes, they like to get you when you're down don't they - "Oh, you can't afford a lot, well, lets just charge you more for the privelege then"...

We can't get credit (ex bankrupts) so another card/Loan/0% option just isn't going to happen. We have nearly £1000 on there, but I am going to try to pay off some extra like shopping money, diesel money, etc, even if I have to break into it again as at least we will be clearing it each month so not paying so much interest IYSWIM.

Thanks for your concern though, I'll just be glad when it's gone - which is why I'm so glad I found this thread... :D

my thoughts exactly!! nice sunny day here which has definitely cheered me up though. thanks to terri & hopeful for dodgy hugs - sure they helped too! ;)

my PAD today is 1.26 and yet another no spend day. i'm really pleased with how this month is going - despite being seemingly endless, i have been disciplined about not spending money where not required. i think that other than for food shopping, i haven't even been IN a shop since just after xmas!! seems to be working...

need to review my money/payments this week. just got our yearly mortgage statement and it's quite disheartening to see that of the nearly 9000 we paid last year, almost 6000 is interest!! we are not quite half way through a 5 year fix at 5.44% so we haven't seen any benefit from the rates coming down. i want to look at overpaying, wasn't going to do this until we'd paid back the boys' savings accounts but think i need to start making some kind of extra payment, even if it's just a small one - i've seen how well it works on this thread so just need to crunch some numbers to see how much i can manage...will also check that it's better to stay where we are than move - the fee to get out of the fix rate is rather large (about 3100) but don't know what we'd be able to get these days instead...

have a great week everyone! xx
Mortgage free as of 11/11/15 !

Smamfer - I'm intrigued by your Signature....

How come you owe VAT? Is this because you are self employed and haven't saved up in order to pay your VAT to HMRC.

If so, I suspect I'll be in a similar position as in yr 2008 - 2009 I haven't saved any of my income to pay Mr TAX Man.

Were you able to agree a repayment plan with HMRC?

    Thanks in anticipation.
I also had payments to make to the Vat, my accountant forgot to tell me for 3 years I had gone over the threshold, I know I should have noticed but at the time had so much going on and was struggling to keep my head above water I didn't. Despite a lack of profit, I did have a reasonable turnover which left me with a bill of £13,000, I have been paying it off in installments, firstly £200 a month with any balance due after 2 years. they let me pay the balance off at £300 a month, I will have finished paying them at the end of this year.
I found them very reasonable, but I always felt sick when I had to ring when we were first negotiating payments.
    Good Luck.
