Hi everyone. Yes, I know it's early but I shall make up for it later on when I conk out on the sofa!

Pippa - I've emailed you with the Fuzzy Lamb pattern. I didn't walk past the wool shop. Well, I thought it was rude not to call in and say hello to the girls in there! I bought another ball of white baby wool to carry on knitting things for my new grandchild due in August, plus my Mum sent me a pattern for a gorgeous little crocheted hooded jacket knitted in chunky wool so I had to buy the wool for that, too! I shall see how the pattern goes - it has hardly any seaming apparently. I'm not sure if it will be useful for preemies, though, due to the chunky wool.

Well, I am working my way through the ball of peachy coloured wool I found in my stash, and have knitted a bunting. Shezmit - I am doing one in stocking stitch after you said how brilliant someone else's was!

Also, Shez - do you know which hospitals in or near Chippenham, Wiltshire, are taking in preemie items? My Mum (LilyMay) would like to know so she can send them direct and save you the postage costs.

Have a good day - I'm going to go and do some knitting. It's way too early to get the hoover out!

PLEASE NOTE: Thanks to everyone for such a good response to Chalky's appeal for the orphanage in Spain. Her SIL has arrived with all our items, and they have been delivered to the orphanage. Chalky has posted some great photos on page 27 of this thread. I think we will have made a big difference to a baby who arrived there with nothing; doesn't it make you feel good?!

LATEST UPDATE: Don't forget to let me know if I get these figures wrong - as some of you know, it's not difficult for me to make a complete hash of it!

Lovely pictures again, Maytaurus. I love cats and that picture is great! I have just 'approved' you on the Wooligans. You'll be able to see all the photos now! I woke up really early this morning but I think it was because, according to my DH, I spent most of the evening asleep on the sofa with my knitting still in my lap!

Hi all - Jellybeans, I hope you are feeling better now.

Maytaurus - thanks for the info about the poor death row dogs. It's another good charity to add to the list. As it's not just knitted things they need, but blankets and so on, there'll be other things we can donate. I see lots of things like old towels and blankets, labelled as suitable for animals, in the charity shops for just a few pence, so I shall keep a lookout.

Maytaurus - I keep knitting and crochet on the go because it helps relieve my tendonitis to alternate between the two. I like crochet best because it's so much quicker. I'd hate to have to give them up completely.

Thanks for the updates - I'll add them tomorrow.

  • There is an appeal in this month's Let's Knit magazine for baby blankets for the sands charity www.uk-sands.org. These are required for memory boxes which are given to parents after the death of a baby.

Catwoman Kent - thanks so much for that link. The memory boxes sound like a lovely idea for bereaved parents and must bring a lot of comfort at a sad time.
