    Hi All

VERY jealous of all of you living further up country than me with access to B&M stores - this is me green with envy!
Sadly, they have not made it far enough south for me but there is a big space in town where Woolies used to be so here's hoping!

Sheyo, your sock monkeys on Shezmit's blog look fantastic where did you get the instructions as I'd love to give them a try - so cute!

Kathy please could you update me with 1 bunting.
Have finished V neck on DH jumper and I'm quite pleased with it after my amateurish mistakes and misunderstandings of the pattern. Haven't got the will to sew it this evening so will start a little preemie something so my overworked brain can have a rest.....

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all keeping well.

Maytaurus - great bunny-making instructions. I haven't tried one of those yet; I must get round to it. Thanks for the group hug!

I've found some soft peachy wool so I've done a ventilator hat and I will also try and get a couple of buntings and some bootees out of it, too. I have done a bit more to the blanket I am making for my third grandchild due in August and, Shez, I have made a start on your latest parcel of teds, chicks and so on. I have completely taken over the coffee table and DH now has nowhere to put his feet in the evenings!

K2tog - no B&M near me, either, much to my annoyance! I do have a very good wool shop, though, so I'm not complaining.

Thanks for all your fantastic totals! I can't believe the number of items!

    Have a great day.

    KathyXX

PLEASE NOTE: Thanks to everyone for such a good response to Chalky's appeal for the orphanage in Spain. Her SIL has arrived with all our items, and they have been delivered to the orphanage. Chalky has posted some great photos on page 27 of this thread. I think we will have made a big difference to a baby who arrived there with nothing; doesn't it make you feel good?!

LATEST UPDATE: Don't forget to let me know if I get these figures wrong - as some of you know, it's not difficult for me to make a complete hash of it!

    Hi all
K2tog thanks for the compliment. I looked on the crafting for christmas thread last year and they had a link to tutorials showing you how to make a sock monkey (its a video) and really easy but I am sure if you google it - sorry not sure how to post links - it will show you. I promise its really easy and you can make them either by hand or machine sewing. Good luck and hope you have lots of fun X

morning all - pippa never thought of knitting a scarf instead of some squares - any ideas on dimensions - i think 7 to 8 inches wide might be good, but not sure how long would be appropriate? any ideas?

many thanks for this lovely forum, it really does keep me entertained, whether at the computer or elsewhere.

kathy could you please update my totals - 1 more square and 3 more Is hats.

enjoy the rest of your day and keep smiling.

dpixie - I usually do twice round the neck, knot it and a bit more, or as someone on here once said, as high as you are and half again, if you want a long scarf, and if you do stripes you can use all your leftover bits, mainly just enjoy making it up as you go along. It looks good all done in garter stitch too, as where the colours change it gives a row of half stitches of each colour.

Or try the yarn forward, knit 2 together every row, but just keep checking you have the same amount of sts you started with, but it looks better if you make sure you start every row with a knit st. It knits up quickly and with normal DK wool it gives a good textured effect.

With the furry type of yarn, I use 6mm needles, cast on 25 sts and garter stich until I have used up 2-50g balls, usually around 6 or 7" wide, and they arent really long or bulky as some elderly folk like the smaller scarves.

The length really is up to you, but just a thought, with the elderly they dont need to be really long as they might trip over them.

    Have fun

    Hi everyone -

DPixie - thanks for such kind words!

SGT - you've been busy! I don't think any of us like the sewing up and stuffing bit! I shall update in the morning.

Pippa - that's great advice about doing scarves and the info you posted is really useful to people who want to try doing them.

Well, I should be doing my 'proper' work but my Mum has just phoned (for almost forty minutes!) and then I made a cup of coffee and just sort of found my way on here! I've printed off the fuzzy lamb pattern and also the Alan Dart chick and egg pattern that Mrs Moneypenny found on the freebies board yesterday; I shall send them both to my Mum, along with a letter using one of Maytaurus's great pictures as a letter heading.

Anyway, I suppose I'd better get back to work - at least I don't have to go far!

I'm going shopping this afternoon - I have to go past the wool shop and I won't know how to stop my feet taking me in there!
