welcome to the newbies, its lovely to have so many people popping in.

I hope everyone had a good weekend and you are all well.

DS is back at school today hes not 100% but said he feels well enough to be back at school.

I wont do an update as such because it was really personal stuff i was knitting more than good cause things.

THe blanket is now finished:T, the edging is all kitted up and sewn on it has really finished it off properly and pulled the colours together.
I went back to my mums birthday top ive worked hard on that over the weekend and got the back front and the neck band done, so only have the arm bands and the side seams to do and thats finished (really embarrassed about that as it was for mums birthday which was in AUGUST!!):o. Glad we are experienceing an indian summer as its a sleevleless top.
Need to get back into the cardigan im knitting next (ive done the 2 fronts and about 1/3 of the back)

Today im getting the sewing machine out (DH replaced the belt) i gave it a quick test over the weekend and it goes like a rocket:T.

Loving the christmas links you have all ben posting and as ever the wonderful posts by maytaurus are inspiring and so cheery

LC wilson, hoping you are well if you are about to read the messages.

Must get the breakfast pots washed and the sewing machine out

    have a good day all

hi all, not much knitting getting done here as had a very difficult weekend with one of sons. to cut a long story short, since the start of term another boy has been bullying him, if you saw the size of him you'd think they would leave him alone. anyway another lad burnt his arm with a lighter on friday, and since then he's been a very difficult lad to deal with,
i've wrote a letter to school, and if nothing gets sorted, i'll be going there in person.
f1widow, hope things improve for your son, what action has the school taken against the bullies?
right, i'm thiking i should be doing housework, but instead i'm off to start the front of the mens sleeveless top that i started for LH. as somebody else said i'm aware that time is running out, and i have lots half finished things to complete, including a jean greenhowe clown that has too much sewing up to do .
hugs to those that need one

enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)
  • Shaz your poor son. i hope the school are going to do something if not i would get the police involved that is terrible, no wonder the poor lad is upset and finding it difficult to express his feelings
When my son was being bullied we found he was snappy moody and hard to handle at home as he was finding it difficult to stand up to the bully so he was asserting himself at home with us where he felt he could. it was like he was testing out a way to vent his anger but directing it at the wrong people.

lots of hugs love and understanding is called for for all of you

Hi ladies - just a quick pitstop from me ha ha
Have been ironing for an hour odd then popped out - now going to make lunch (DH day off today agghh never get a thing done for myself when he is here - its like military precision :p

Shaz - so very very sorry to hear about your son - how awful - i do hope he is ok - the school here are not really doing much as they have said that there have to be witnesses (hmmmmmmmm) - I have been known to mutter I will keep a video camera in his pocket ;) - and they say bullying does not exist

mrs m - thank you so much for saying what you did about your son - its made me feel better - its exactly how ds behaves - he has shouted/kicked/ stropped at me on the way home some days in front of other people and the look on their faces as much to say - well hes naughty what do you expect - and the attitude at home is awful - luckily im the one who gets it and not another sibling (we only have the one) - ive explained this to school nurse & others asking is this from the bullying and all i get is a vacant look ........ its hard to tell him off when its his way of coping - needless to say he does get told off - but i feel really nasty

Anyway DH is hovering for lunch so off I go again - will come back in later

Good to hear party went well pippa s
well done ISOM on your car boot - you deserve it after all the effort you have put in & a nice sunday lunch as well ..:T

take care all & hope you are having a good day Jaqui xx

  • F1 i remember after a particulary trying session i sat down with DS and said "you know its not us you want to be ranting at is it its (insert bullies name here)" i told him i knew he was mad at him and upset that he couldnt lash back out at him or be quick enugh with the put down replies.
taking into account my son is taller than mst of the people who are his age he towered over bully boy so we had constantly drummed into him if he retaliated he was bound to be seen as the aggressor. if its any help joining drama and getting involved with school productions help our DS tremendously. not sure if thats an avenue your lad wants to try, it just helps with the confidence and gives them a talent to overcome the situation

  • oo always poor - just noticed another cardiffian!! hello!! waves from dodgy area of cardiff!! Hopefully will be starting a charity knitting group in roath if youre inetersted - it will be once a month plus a non charity knitting social once a month on a weekday eve!
Thought of you all this am as I sat in my empry sitting room on solitary ikea chair knitting while waiting for the fitters! carpet now done and its lovely and definately makes a difference with the noise! Someone has been to see the room and will let me know later if she wants to move i for 6 months - fingers crossed!!
Sorry to hear re bullying...re schools they should have a formal policy and I would ask for it and what action they intend to take. Also, if you can, get the children to do a daily diary with you - multi function as will help them express whats happened, talk in a less "talky" way and help them know you just want to help plus hopefully bring you closer. Also talk to them about what they would like you to do to help plus what they can do to rechannel their angry feelings - ie sport, using a cushion to punch, going to a park and having a scream...my particular fave (and one I've done myself and it feels fab) is to sift the worries/hurt and for some you can write on a big rock and lob out to sea...or park etc hile making sure you dont hit someone else or any animals!! Hope that helps but huge hugs for you - have been bullied on a number of occasions as a child and adult and it really feels awful..to the core type of hurt...
Orkney start love the new avitar and am very impressed by your kniting progress!! Well done you!

I don’t blame you for feeling angry & frustrated
Unfortunately this attitude seems quite common
Bullies of any age and in all circumstances, are very clever at making sure that there are no witnesses to their actions and sadly this is why we see so many cases, where people have tried everything to get help and are failed by the system and apologies after the event of someone being seriously hurt are of little use

Hi everyone - I'm not getting much chance to post on here while I have visitors, but I just wanted to send lots of (((hugs))) to all those children who are being bullied at school. It's a horrible situation to be in and breaks my heart to think of anyone going through it. I really hope it can be sorted out.

Maytaurus - those twins! Thanks so much for posting the story. It warms your heart, doesn't it?

Well, what with staying up too late and the wine, I'm oversleeping like mad this week. I thought I'd at least be waking up early as usual but it's all gone out of the window. Haven't done any knitting or crochet, either, and I'm having withdrawal symptoms! I'm loving having our dear friends with us but also longing to get back to normal!

I'll try and call back later.

Hope you are all well and that you have a good day.
