Hi everyone. Still pouring with rain here - a really gloomy day.

I might not be able to post much on here tomorrow because DH and two friends will be here working on the house and I've just been told that it will involve electrics, so I might not be able to have the PC on for a few hours. Oh, well, I'll just have to knit and crochet instead - when I'm not feeding them all!

With the blanket I'm making for my DGD, I've decided to do four big squares of 9 rounds each, sew them together, then just do stripes of each colour until it's big enough.

DPixie - was it you who asked about sizes? I've looked up and lapghans measure around 46" square, so that's what I'll aim for, I think.

Hope you are all having a good day.

ISOM - big pat on the back for tackling the budgets etc - I have found (since really trying to tackle things...) that working on a budget is a full time job and tiring (well it is for me :rotfl::rotfl:)- i had my light bulb moment last year and Iam still working on things and negotiating - one that I realised (only recently) that we were spending toooo much on food etc and now like Economy Gastronomy I plan ahead and only buy what we need -we used to random shop - have not totalled up my first months trial yet but we shall see

I am not sure if it is still the case but with regards Elec/Gas we were with EON (way way way too expensive) am now with Southern Electricity and also get Argos/Homebase money for every pound you spend with Elec/gas (put away for xmas) - they may not still be the cheapest but they certainly were cheaper than EON and I get my points :T

Sorry ladies totally not knitting there whoops .............

Elaine - please dont feel you have to be cheerful and positive every time you come in here, you have been through a terribly sad and life changing time, and it is going to take time to get back to anywhere near an even keel.
Just remember we are here for you anytime however you feel, if you want to rant feel free we dont mind, if you need a hug here we are, lots of arms ready and waiting.
What are friends for after all but to be there through the good and bad.
The blankets were all done with love from us all and we are so pleased you like them, and Chalky did a wonderful job putting them all together and finishing them off.

    ISOM - well done only 14p and you'll have a £

f1widow - O good news at least he's on the list

dpixie - me too I would love to know where the electricity "black hole" is
mrs-moneypenny - hope DS feels better soon, and its not the dreaded swine flu, it seems to be everywhere at the mo

Pam - Mark Harmon for me :D

Chalky - bit late but HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your DS _party__party__party_

Kathy - the blanket sounds really good, like the idea of 9 rounds then stripes.

Off to dish up now back later.

Hi everyone-- Well I went back to the wool shop and the dear lady saw my swatch and said " Oh thats not like you !" I paused and she said " Well you usually just know instinctively what you want and dont seem to have a plan " So the swatch went into the big bag and I just looked along the shelves and choose the ones that winked at me. I have also abandoned the precise planning 9x9 etc and gone back to my usual more instinctive (Chaotic) style. !!!!
I actually just want to finish this lapaghan and make another from scratch because I don't think I will ever love it !!

You would laugh I have no interest in football at all but DOH is a West Ham supporter through and through and through again !" I carried claret and blue flowers down the ailse ( OOOHHHHHHH have a look at the boquet on my blog! )
Anyway his passion has had a lasting effect on me and DD2 laughed last night as she looked at 1 square and saw the blue and in the next round Claret !!

I am away from tomorrow as we are going up to North Devon to see DS and his wife until Sunday as a late 30th Birthday celebration. Hope this sunshine continues!!
So dear friends I may pop on later but if I dont get the chance take care and lots of love to one and all
Try and do a good deed every day.

Hi everyone - late post tonight as house is in chaos but will improve over the next few days.
Elaine it's good to see you whenever you feel like it, and we aren't fair-weather friends so however you feel is OK. You are going through such a difficult time, please don't feel you have to be perky on anyone elses account.
Glad you have seen a new school Jaqui - fingers crossed.
Pleased things are sorting themselves out for you ISOM.
Can't believe you've had dodgy weather Mioliere - there must have been an administrative error and you got ours today! Have had a look at your blog and Chalky's and they are great. Will enjoy keeping up with them both.
Pam, neither for pernickety me I'm afraid :o- the rest of you girls can slug it out while I referee!
Need to pick up my hook now, keep spending too much time surfing and not enough hooking - though I did knock up a quick boob last night :D.

    Hi everyone.

Chalky - glad you like your lapghan now! I know how frustrating it is when you feel something just isn't working! I'm pleased with mine so far - I've just done the third of four central squares which I shall sew together, then add stripes until it's big enough. We have men working here today and the electric will be going on and off, so I may just turn the day into a crochet and knitting day! I'm already planning the lapghan I'll make for DGS - just need to find a pattern more suitable to a boy. I'm going to make some preemie hats and booties in between working on the lapghans, too. Having said that, though, I may have a go at the crochet boob instead.

It's still pouring with rain here and has been for almost 24 hours now. It was so cold last night that I had to have a blanket on me while I watched the TV. I hope it isn't like this when our visitors stay next week - they'll think we were lying about not having any rain for six weeks and a hosepipe ban! A friend of ours is back in the UK - staying in Yeovil, Somerset - and she says it was lovely there yesterday. It's about time you all had some good weather, so I'm not really jealous (!)

    Well, off for another cuppa.

Just a fleeting visit as we are on our way-- After we have cleaned the wheelie bin !!!!

I am taking my lovely basket of wool and all the things DDIL needs to learn how to crochet !!! The Craft work is proving to be a lovely link between us both and has helped us get to know each other so well. She could not knit a year ago and now will have a bash at anything and now wants to learn to crochet !!

    Have lovely weekends all
Try and do a good deed every day.
