    :hello: Hi Chalky, it`s ok - I haven`t drowned in tears !!!

The blankets are lovely - thank you all so much for the time, effort love and friendship in every square, I really appreciate what you have done. Still haven`t decided where the Memory blanket should go just yet.

Haven`t been around much lately as I`ve been having a few `bad` days all together -bad enough having one bad day at a time, but almost a week  . Just been completely down in the dumps and unsociable. Not fit company for anyone really.

Chalky - could you use white / cream / something toning - to edge your granny squares with so that the colours are not together - if you see what I mean ?

Off to have a coffee and catch up on what`s been happening. Back later.

    Hi Elaine
Thanks for that idea-- I am going to go and get some neutrals to add in. Its funny isn't it how sometimes colours go together and sometimes they just don't !!

I am just going to send you a massive (((((hug))))) Because it must be so difficult but PLEASE do not beat yourself up for feeling down.Join us when you can . We love to hear from you

    sunny but very cold here
got my eldest DS off - aching legs, headache and high temperature. just found out off one of the other mum swine flu is starting to surface at the school hes just started. hes lying on the settee at the mo not looking at all well.

maytaurus sorry i didnt answer your question yesterday, i sewed the squares together using the same colour as ive done the letters and the edging in. I used a back stitch as i wanted it to make sure it was really strong as im not sure yet what use it will be put to.

Elaine im so glad to hear the blankets have brought comfort to you. You are always 'fit company' for us so any time you want to just pop in here and there will be someone here to listen or just be here for you.

Happy birthday to your DS Chalky, i think of you at school when im at work this term. THey have changed the class names from animals to countries (my son is in Spain) so at lunch times we have to call the classes by shouting Spain Columbia & China for the junoirs. I havent learned the infants yet as they go straight into the hall from the classrooms.

sending hugs to all and i hope everyone has a good day

  • Morning everyone,

Mioliere - I love the idea of a lap blanket for your grandchildren and it got me thinking about making some for my ds's what with winter on its way soon, Is there a set size or do you just keep going until it looks about right? Sorry for daft questions but I haven't made anything like it before and am not really sure where to start.

Sorry Pam Johnny Depp got my vote too, Mark Harman is too Handsome for me I like mine a bit quirky.

I'm having a quiet restful day today so I'm going to go and put my feet up with a coffee and knitting.

    Enjoy your days all.x

    Hi all.

Elaine - good to hear from you. We've all really enjoyed doing the blankets and are so glad they got to you safely. I just wish we could all be with you to give you proper (((hugs))) instead of virtual ones, and to take care of you when you are feeling so low. As Mrs Moneypenny says , you are 'fit company' however you are feeling - please don't forget that.

Mrs Moneypenny - hope your DS gets better soon. This swine flu just won't go away, will it? They haven't had an epidemic here in France but are expecting one this winter, so it's just a matter of luck whether we get it or not.

Only Girl - no set size for the blankets. I'll just carry on until it looks right! One of my DH's most prized possessions is a blanket his beloved Nan (who died when he was a young child) crocheted specially for him, so I want the make the same sort of thing for my grandchildren. The granny square pattern is so easy, I don't have to think about it! I'm loving how it's turning out.

Well, I've spent the last two hours trying to sort out my printer. It kept jamming - turned out to be a stone that had fallen through the ceiling straight into it, when DH was lifting floorboards in the room above! I knew it was that, but it took me ages - and tweezers, a knitting needle, and a torch - to find it. I had to take out a tiny roller in the printer which I can't put back, so DH will do that for me later. At least I know it's not an expensive fault with the printer itself!

Anyway, off to make some lunch then a couple of hours off for some crocheting and knitting. The weather here is horrid - cold, grey, and wet.

  • afternoon all....psso huge hugs for you. Youre bound to take time to adjust and will have good and bad days. Do have a think about contacting cruse because they are a great support...as others have said feel free to come and "talk" anytime...dont have to feel perky - its not realistic at any time, never mind when youve had such a devastating life change...
Final estate agent came today and confirmed that selling not an option because I just wouldnt get enough so will separate the flat so there are two large rooms, separate kitchen and bathroom and then get a room share person in...as always stuff to do and just cleared out wardrobe and managed a box of clothes! No knitting today as going to see a riend in a bit and then look after friends baby for a couple of hours.
Am generally feeling ok...just alot of different things to think on and its exhausting! Also saving money though and managed 86p so far this week lol!! and NO wool!!!

well done ISOM - i know how hard it must be, have been through similar as lost my job earlier this year. it feels so hard having to cope with a budget, but if you treat it like a game, it does become a bit easier. i am currently trying to find ways to reduce our electricity and gas usage as our bills are unbelievable. in fact, i think they can only be wrong because, although i am now at home during the day, we have not had the heating on, as its been summer, i dont have the lights burning and we don't, as a rule, leave loads of plugs switched on. dont know what it could be. anyway, off to investigate....

Hi all, good washing drying weather today, got a bit out of the way.

mioliere I like the story of your son's blanket. I made a shetland shawl for when my DGS2 was born, luckily she was a bit late as it took me 6 months to do. She uses it now for on the sofa when she feels poorly, so hopefully it will be like your son and she'll keep it along with memories.

psso nice to see you, and pleased you liked the blankets. Didn't Chalky do a good job?

Isom you're sounding a little more positive now, well done, hope it all works out ok.

f1widow it's good your son's on the waiting list but I guess that's as long as a piece of string? Hasn't the present school come up with anything helpful?

Dpixie if you find out where all the electricity goes could you let us know please, it's one of my life's great mysteries!

    love to you all xxx
