    morning - anyone out there?

well at least its not raining buckets down here in london. its chilly and i am ready for the gym. my strategy today is sooner started, sooner finished. i have a whole list of things to do and a whole lot of people to satisfy before i finish up today and get on with my new little project - a blankie for our spare bed. i have decided that its to go on top of the bed so the dimensions are about 1.60m x 1.90m, but i might have to check that, it might be too long. its a ripple blanket in lilac and dusty pink - the only 2 colours that the shop had that i liked together. i have already done a few colour changes (two rows of each colour) and its looking rather nice, if i say so myself.

other than that, i hope everyone is okay. isom, i think getting a lodger might be a good thing. one of my non-knitty friends has a lodger and its been quiet good for her. when we lost our jobs, she had someone to help with the rent, and now that she has a job (at 50% of her previous salary) she still has the lodger to help her out with the bills etc.

oh well, i had better finish the coffee and start off for the gym.

have a wonderful and productive day everyone. am looking forward to reading more on the blogs...

    hugs to everyone

Good morning all. A bit of a slow start this morning, mainly because DH is home working on the house - he has help yesterday, so things will speed up hopefully. He's back at work on Friday so I'll have more time then - well, until our friends arrive on Sunday.

ISOM - hope today is a better day for you.

DPixie - I've just started a lap blanket for my DGD1 in pink, purple and white. I started off thinking I would do squares, but I'm just continuing to crochet, so it will all be in one piece - save all the sewing together; I'll just have to weave in the ends. I'll make one in blues for my DGS. I've picked an easy granny-square pattern so that I can pick it up and put it down. In between, I shall get some preemie things done, and some IS stuff, hopefully.

Well, again it's cold and wet here - I can hardly believe the change in the weather over the last two weeks. I hope it's better for when our friends are here for the week!

Anyway, hope everyone is well. Will call back a little later.

    Good Morning everybody
It is really cloudy here and just feels Grey!!

I am feeling a little frustrated!!!! I had a lovely time in the wool shop for wool for Spain and then of course I could not leave it alone and thought " well I wiil just see if idea works out --- Oh, its not quite as I thought! "

I decided I wanted to do a Granny Squares blanket, made a swatch , got wool, started first sets of colour choices-- 4 colours in each square -- All good ! But because I want 9 squares in each block -- then 9 blocks in total I had to change the colour combinations and now I dont like some of the shades together !!!!! Always my first reaction is " Sleep on it - it will look fine in the morning . But it doesn't!!! And now I know I will never be happy with it. So I think the only alternative is to go back to the wool shop choose some more nuetral shades to mix with the stronger ones.

I hate it when I get these confidence hicoughs!!!

Anyway never mind I am sure a trip to the Wool Shop will sort me out !!

I hope we hear from Elaine soon as I am anxious she has found the arrival of the blankets too much!

ISOM -- I hope things go well with your search for a lodger.

Kathy--- We find we worry about the weather when people have made the effort to come and see us in Spain. Entertaining anywhere is so much easier when the sun shines !

Well I have got another lot of dyeing to do so must get on but lots of love, gentle thoughts and congratulations if you are celebrating

MY DS was 30, Where have those years gone. His first birthday as a married man !
Try and do a good deed every day.

    Good morning all,
Well Pam, I voted for Mr Johnny Depp.....he is one of my fave actors actually.
Finished another bonnet last night and started on another (2/3rd done) so plan to fit more housework around my knitting today (aha note I am fitting housework around knitting not the other way!).
Chalky, does it feel like yesterday your DS was a wee thing ? My DS is 2 but some days I wonder where those first two years went! He is now dry during the day time and its another milestone which makes me a little sad but also very happy at the same time iyswim!
Hope all of you are doing ok and that the work goes ok Kathy.
    Bye for now.

Chalky - happy birthday to your DS! Chalky - I started off with two different granny squares for DGD1's lap blanket, but liked one much more than the other, so I just carried on and it will end up being one big square, in pink, white and purple. For DGS's lap blanket, I'll use two shades of blue and a cream but will look for a more 'manly' pattern!

Pam - thanks for that but I'm afraid it had to be Johnny Depp for me! Of course, if Colin Firth had been on offer, he would definitely have got my vote!
