Pippa - by the way, I meant to post these the other day - they're some of my favourite quotes and make me think of you and your family!

"A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank...but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child."

‘Life, love, and laughter – what priceless gifts to give to our children’

‘Children will not remember you for the material things you provided, but for the feeling that you cherished them’

‘While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about’

KathyXX and a (((hug))) for your DGS!

Pippa, you forgot the ultimate kid question - why?
Didn't do my early night last night and DH is out tonight so won't get one tonight either - I'm looking more in need of beauty sleep than ever :rotfl:. Am definitely going to spend less time surfing tonight because I need to start finishing some things off and getting through some of my stash.
Hugs to all who need or want one.
  • Evening all, just a quick visit to highlight one of Fridays free patterns before it disappears, I've grabbed a copy so PM me if you want one;

    Vintage Lace Afghan I - crochet! on http://www.freepatterns.com/ .

I've knitted a bit this evening, mainly while Brucie was waffling on Strictly and while watching NCIS (with the lovely Mark Harmon). I finished the Kimono Jumper and started a "5 hour" baby cardi. Both for recent babes of friends family.
I'm surprisingly tired today - not used to all the brain work I've been doing this week :rotfl:. I've no schedule for the weekend so I can take it as it comes which is nice, but, I really should do some housework:eek::eek::eek:.

    night night all

You and me both, or I`ll definitely have Kim and Aggie and their cleaning gang knocking on my door  but I really can`t be bothered if there`s SOMETHING BETTER on offer...............wool??

We`re a right pair of night owls tonight Pam. Off to bed for a few pages before hopefully sleeping.

    See you tomorrow.

I really wish that there was a special postal rate for charity items, but I won’t hold my breath!
It used to cost a small fortune sending things to DS1 when abroad with the armed forces, so I don’t hold out much hope for the charity givers!

I like the quotes and these are some of my favourite words re; children

    Children Learn What They Live
    By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

    Good morning everyone.

Maytaurus - loved the post, and the snowmen, and the lovely words about children! Are you up early or just late going to bed? I woke up early - my mind is working overtime because our visitors arrive tomorrow evening and we aren't ready for them! We can't move into the attic bedroom until it's a bit more sorted, so DH will be getting on with that today, then we'll have to move all our stuff into it and get the downstairs 'best' bedroom done for the visitors. The husband won't be able to manage our very steep stairs (that would be illegal in the UK!). It's going to be a long weekend and I shall just be glad when they are here and we've had a few glasses of the falling-down stuff!

Pam - that's a gorgeous pattern. I've printed it off and added it to the vast collection of patterns in my filing cabinet.

Well, I'm going to try and get the update done now (sorry it's late - it's been a long week!)

I don't know how often I'll be able to come on here next week while we have guests, bit I'll try my best - coming on here keeps me sane!

Pippa - hope you have a great party!

LC Wilson - hope you are OK? It seems ages since we heard from you. Hope the family are as well as can be expected.

Well, off to update - after another cuppa.

    same old :rotfl:
It sounds like you're going to be very busy!
Just avoid those stairs when you've all been drinking the fallin down stuff

Hope everything goes well whilst your visitors are staying
Look after yourself and .... Enjoy

Thanks, Maytaurus - hope you get a good night's sleep. I'm sure I will enjoy myself. They are dear friends and we always enjoy each other's company. I would like the house to be more 'ready' for guests, but I know they won't mind. I'm more worried about the weather - it's been a horrid week here, more like a Siberian summer than an Indian (or even French) one!

Anyway, I've done the update and will post it in the following post. I hope I've got everyone's totals right!

Orkney - I'm not sure about yours yet - I know you've made a hat and a bodywarmer, so shall I add those? Let me know on here, and I'll add them to the update.

The next update will be done after next Sunday (when my visitors have gone). I think it'll be too ambitious to try and do it while they are here (because we don't stop talking when we get together!). I hope, then, to add it to my blog, but, at the moment, there just aren't enough hours in the day, and I want to do it properly!

Kathy, Am I too late with my list of kniting since last time (sorry!).
Since last time (when I made one cardi!) I have knitted:

    1 preemie bodywarmer
    1 Angel gown
4 preemie hats (in 4 sizes lol).

(total knitted is as in sig :))

Last night was out for dinner with good friend but still managed to sneak a preemie hat in when I got home. Today is a thing for DS all morning and afternoon was a butterfly party (cards) but now is a memorial which I found out was on at the same time (ex colleague and friend).......short story is knitting will have to be done at night while watching Casualty! Might do some more of DS's sweater as am really liking the wool......and he grows fast so want it to fit! Lol he is 2 and 3 months but am doing 3-4 to be safe!
Also might give an angel crib pattern a go.....are they really difficult....I'd say I am an intermediate knitter but have done the odd advanced thing in the past!
Ok, sorry if I have messed up your list Kathy :o.
I hope everyon is fine n dandy and if not I hope things look up soon.
