Hi Chalky - I found your blog on Facebook - I love it! Well done on getting it off the ground. I'm still working on mine, adding all the info about our knitting. Hope to 'publish' it over the weekend!

Pippa - hope things went as well as they could today. Thinking of you on a difficult day.

Try and do a good deed every day.
  • Evenin’ ('mornin') All.

Ok so I’ve been lurking all day, dropping in and out – I’ve had a strange faffing about sort of day again, my routine changed again ‘cos little brother swapped Mum visiting days as he’s off on holiday tomorrow, change really throws me out just now. I had planned a trip out to PO this pm but Pamspal dropped in just after lunch & we chatted ‘til nearly teatime so I’ll go in the morning.

Well what a lovely load of posts when I logged on this morning! Kathy - I too remember a gingham curtain (green) beneath the kitchen sink, The outside loo plus the tin bath- aah! times were so good then despite how poor they sound.

I remember Mum having to go into hospital for about 3 months – a slipped disc, she was in traction for weeks and weeks - I’d be about 12, I took great pride in coping with the laundry, an electrolux washer with a powered wringer, a zinc tub and a ponch for rinsing, but then, as now I didn’t manage the ironing :rotfl:!. I also did most of the cooking, I was very proud of a fruit flan I made to take to Mum – I made a sponge base, then added tinned peaches and a packet of Greens jelly on top. We took this, with a tin of Nestles cream on 2 long bus rides to the hospital, my little brother had to wait outside as he wasn’t old enough to visit (how cruel was that) but Mum was near a window on the ground floor so if big brother lifted him they could see each other. Isn’t it strange the things that stick in your memory.

Maytaurus, what more can I say than thank you for your fabulous posts – it always warms my heart to read them. Oooh and before I forget again, thanks so much for the cabbage patch link – I had a problem with a teddy pattern a couple of months ago and have now found the original on that site – the copy I was using missed about 10 rows – no wonder I had a problem :rotfl:

ISOM – so glad the cat has turned up. (pooh! – the auctioneer). Love the blog! Keep your chin up!

Kathy – love the dust poem, have taken a copy, thanks

Everyone into clearing lofts – I have a crowded one if you’d like to have a go!

Orkneystar – welcome and well done with the little cardi!

Dpixie – you must be so fit! I haven’t tried the stockings yet, have a jumper on the needles I must finish – will give them a go over the weekend, if ok I’ll do at least 10 before I move onto a couple or 3 boobies.

Shazrobo – well what can I say – 50 fluffy balls :rotfl: and a surprise parcel :j Thanks for the bell pattern, will have a go at that too.

SylviaD – good luck with the dog – I’m sure the home visit will be positive ((hugs))

Mrs Moneypenny – take care of your shoulder, I hope it recovers soon.

Chalky – love the blog, I’m your first “follower” – beware:rotfl:!

Mioliere – soooo looking forward to reading yours.

All you bloggers – I envy you, love the idea but don’t think I could do it. I’m shy Mary Ellen, I’m shy!

Ooops – gone on too long again,

    Night night all

    Luv

A wonderful post, Maytaurus, with some brilliant links - how do you find so many great things?

Pam - you've stirred up such memories with your post, Green's Jelly, and so on!

I hope everyone is well. Unfortunately, I woke up late because I stayed up to watch The Dvinci Code - I hadn't seen it before. We have friends coming over this morning for lunch so I won't have any time on here until later. I'm longing to have a good look at all Maytaurus's links, too.

Anyway, will call back later. Have a great day.

morning everyone, i am sitting here with my first coffee (breakfast will have to wait) and am loving the blogs.

isom - love yours, but where is the rest? i want to hear more about you and fergus and weezl and your allotment and your quilt.

chalkey, i loved your blog too, i hope that you are going to keep it updated with loads of photos of the things you produce, i love crafty things, but when it comes to sewing, i might as well have hooves!

maytaurus, what a lovely post, i love the things you find and your bright updates do make this chilly morning seem much warmer and sunnier than it is.

kathy, hurry, we want to see your blog too. i am thinking of starting a blog so that my friends in the states can see what i am up to, and that other people can appreciate our lovely views from our house in france. oh well, one thing at a time. am loving doing the little christmas stockings - coming from the southern hemisphere, we never had those as kids, so its all very exciting. i am going to make one for myself as a very UNSUBTLE hint to the lovely OH.

anyway, need to go and dig the beetroot up (dont know why as i will not eat any of it - hideous stuff that it is) and also water the greenhouse and have breakfast, this list grows by the moment.

have a wonderful day everyone, and i think i am going to treat myself to a little order from kemps ....

smiles, hugs and loads of love all round

Think they might a bit too pretty. It's one of the patterns that was free on a site and Pam bailed me out as she had saved it and I couldn't find mine. Have restarted the square and it now looks much more square, but there are several to do
