Thank goodness, poor mum was gutted having lost cat the same day she got it!! Told her to be nice and not tell her off too much! Now off to unpick fergs jumper and start a size bigger!! he grew quicker than I knitted!! hugs all

Me too, as you could probably tell from my recipe!
I'm trying a larger project in between xmas stockings and IS hats at the mo. I'm going to do the butterfly blanket but I'm using chocolate brown (Aldi wool) and cream and not sure what to do for the applique bits because it's for my Grandad and I don't think the butterflies will suit! I'll see how I go before I worry about it too much - short attention span and all that.
ISOM, glad things are going OK.
Edit to add: Oh bum. have just noticed I have lost a stitch every row and have a rhombus instead of a square :(. I'm out of practice with crochet - and it was dodgy to start with :rotfl:

k2tog - does your Grandad not like butterflies ? - or is it too `girlie` looking ?

Hi everyone - I woke up really early this morning and tried to go back to sleep but it just didn't happen. No doubt, I'll be having a snooze later on!

Elaine - I well remember the orange boxes! My Mum also had a gingham curtain around the sink in the kitchen. She used to keep the dirty washing under the sink ready for wash day. One day, when she was on her own, she pulled it all out for washing and got bitten by a spider. Her hand really swelled up. She caught the spider in a jar and put a note next to it for my Dad which said 'if I'm dead when you get in, this is what bit me'! The sink itself was a big old china one with a separate wooden draining board. There were four of us children and my Dad built a breakfast bar in the kitchen - it was the first one in the street and all the other Dads were sent in to see it and copy it! Isn't it strange how memories come flooding back at the mention of something? Your mentioning gingham curtains and orange boxes took me back years!

I'm so glad Poppy turned up. The little kitten that has adopted us here (and her Mum, a feral cat who seems to have got herself pregnant again) had a real scare yesterday. The dog we sometimes look after for our neighbour slipped his electronic collar and came bounding over into our garden, cornering the pregnant cat. The poor thing had to run for her life. DH heard the comotion and chased the dog off; we haven't seen the cat since. We know the dog didn't catch her but we had a good look and couldn't find her. I'm hoping she managed to recover but I wouldn't be surprised if she had her kittens after the scare. The kitten managed to hide herself somewhere and was soon back with us. Honestly, I was determined not to have any more pets - we were offered two pairs of kittens when we moved here and turned them down. Now we seem to have a kitten who thinks we're her parents, and a cat with babies on the way! We'll have to get her 'done' as soon as we can, as well as the kitten, who's a female, too! We're going to catch the big ginger tom who is the !!!!less father and get him 'done' too, as soon as we can. I've helped fund raise with a charity here that neuters and spays stray cats, so I'm hoping I can do a deal with them for a job lot!

Well, knitting-wise, I've finished the baby cardi I was making for a friend's daughter; now I'm making a hat and will also make some booties to go with them.

I shall also carry on working on my blog so that I can post the update on it before it gets too big to post on here again! Does anyone know how I can link to it from here? I don't think we're allowed to advertise our own blog in our posts are we?

Anyway, off for another cuppa. I need something to keep me awake now - if I go back to bed, I'm sure to oversleep!

    Glad you’re OK Kathy :j

I was a bit worried when I saw you online this early/late even for you :rotfl:
I haven't been to bed yet, just the weird sleep pattern thingy :rotfl:  :rotfl:
Just enjoying 2 Warburtons hot buttered crumpets & a cuppa.gif& catching up with the thread ...

re;’ the dust is that bad i could write my name in it’
‘my dust is like that too.lol’
‘dusting - what is that ? I forget’
‘I think dust is good for the furniture, actually! I love that 'real' look.’
I’m in the same club ... I used to do it every day but now it’s only when it gets embarrassing
And as we’ve said before for some reason MOST MEN just don’t see dirt !!
I have to admit that my ds1 is brilliant at doing everything around the house, in fact my ddl loves the fact but blames me, for him wanting her to be more tidy!!
Some say it’s because of the army training,
But it can’t be that because I’m convinced that the only part of his army training my oh would use, is mountaineering skills .... to climb over the mess! l-o-l
It's like some kind of testosterone driven blindness.
Have you ever seen the Terminator washing dishes or James Bond cleaning floors?
The media has sooooo much to answer for and some mothers can take the blame as well ....
Maybe some of them have just been deceiving women for years and purposefully don’t do a good job at cleaning, so that we will do it all
Either way WE LOSE ... :rotfl: :rotfl:

re’we are not putting anything back up there! Of course that meant we have had to clear out under the stairs to put Christams decs there --- and that meant that we had to clear Utility room gto put all the washed boxes of toys for when littlies come to play !!!! Utility room not the best place but NOWHERE else available.’
Oh dear I know how you feel!Have you finished yet?
We emptied loads of stuff out of our loft when oh & ds1 did the insulation and the only things up there now are the xmas decs and a few bits & pieces ....
Of course this means that some of it is now included in my spare room problem!

    Glad poppy cat is safe
Re;’ at the moment theres planning and lots to do.
Its when it goes quiet that I suspect it will hit me...’
I don’t know what’s been happening but I think what you say is true
I know it always has been for me
Sorry to hear that the auctioneer gave a ridiculously low price, it’s a really bad time to be selling just at the moment isn’t it?
Just remember you’ve got everyone here to talk to and we are all

Which pattern are you using for the‘butterfly blanket’
Is it one that you add the motifs to when it’s finished?

Sorry to hear the sad news about your friend and that I didn’t send my sympathies before now.
Hope the hairdresser did you proud
Re; ‘I want it to look tidy for the funeral tomorrow, some might think it’s silly...’
I don’t think it’s silly at all, I also feel it’s a mark of respect to look the best that you can manage at times like these
In fact, I have to admit to sometimes cringing, at the way people turn up to all sorts of occasions and even for hospital visiting etc
It’s strange the things that come to mind at times but I always find myself thinking that my Mum would be really upset if I turned up to see her in hospital etc looking like some of the sights I’ve seen

I had to laugh picturing someone receiving a bagful of your ironing through the post
Glad you enjoyed the England v Croatia match, surprisingly good I thought
‘seemed to knit a lot faster with the excitement!’

I am also making some scarves in the fun fur type yarn & decided they would make lovely xmas pressies
and then I thought some would be OK for Elaine & re; the xmas fairs etc
Re;’ Cats are notorious for disappearing then suddenly strolling back in as if nothing has happened!’
Hmmm ... a bit like MEN THEN?!?
Thanks for the update and good luck with the new format
I know I haven’t done mine for ages, but I will soon and post my pics on ‘Wooligans’

But it reminds me of being at the stables

Glad you’re feeling a little better
Well done on all your sorting out :j

    Kinsey

I know what you mean about ’I think it would take a couple of skips to de clutter my house!’
Since getting the M.E. etc things have got a bit out of control ...
I just kept letting everything go into the spare room thinking I would sort it out properly when I felt better ... of course not knowing I would have long term problems, the spare room, now has no spare room :rotfl:

Any luck finding your new dog?

Re;’ Lofts - we had a massive clear out a few years ago so now we only have the Christmas stuff up there, oh and a box of decorative teapots which belong to DD1. If I had enough room down here the Chrissy stuff would be down here as well. Maybe if I have a clearout down here..................
