    Wow, Maytaurus - what a lovely post to start off what will be a very long day seeing as I got up so early! Thanks for your thoughtfulness. I hope you manage to catch up on your sleep and that you have a great day. I've just found this dust-related poem
    Dust If You Must....
    ~~ Author Unknown~~

    dusting.gif
    Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
    To paint a picture, or write a letter,
    Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
    Ponder the difference between want and need?
    Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
    With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
    Music to hear, and books to read;
    Friends to cherish, and life to lead.
    Dust if you must, but the world's out there
    With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
    A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
    This day will not come around again.
    Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
    Old age will come and it's not kind.
    And when you go (and go you must)
    You, yourself, will make more dust.
    Remember, a house becomes a home when you can write
    "I love you" on the furniture....

    I love the last two lines! That's as good a reason as any to keep dust where it is!

    I've been working on my blog - does anyone object to me keeping their forum name on the updates that I will be posting on it?
    Please let me know!

    Great poem Kathy :A
    It's taken me a long time to get used to not being able to do all the things I used to and keep the home how I really like it
    Still hoping I will be able to do more at some point though :j :j :j
    Everyone says there's nothing wrong with it :rotfl: but you'll know what I mean, about how you feel when you can't do things the way you'd like to
    Anyway the most important thing is,
    that the house is a home where there's love and dogs and everyone knows they can come here whenever they want any help or just need to be hugged :j:j:j:j:j
    Happy to be on this thread & still able to try & do a bit to help somewhere though :j:j:j:j:j

    As the man says .... every little helps :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Maytaurus - it must be really frustrating for you but your home sounds lovely and welcoming and I'm sure it's a great place to be. This thread is wonderful when you are feeling down, isn't it? Such lovely people on here. Hope you have a good day today.

    morning all (especially kathy and maytaurus - who are both up already).

    just to say that there is a difference between a house and a home - not one that my hubby understands, but a home is somewhere that is lived in, that has a bit of dust and the odd bits of stuff lying around that show that someone actually lives there. in my opinion a house is one of those showhouse thingies that looks like its there to take pictures of and no one lives there and there is no stuff about so dusting is no problem.

    anyway, finished both ruffled scarves yesterday, and i love them. i have decided that i will do 2 more mohair ones for presents for friends and one of me. not sure when i am going to do them as at the moment i am trying to concentrate on those little christmas stockings for shelley. i have decided that i will try to do 20 for her, thats 10% of the total, any other pledges?

    anyway, must read my emails and then put my trainers on and go to the gym for a bit of a session before i go to the doctors who is bound to ask me about my weight and why it has gone up so much ....

    have a wonderful day everyone, thinking of each and everyone one of you.

    Great poem Kathy, I am a flylady at heart but also love my craft so its always a balancing act with me. I think I will still fly, albeit a bit slower, so there is still time to knit, stitch and make yummy things too ;). I don't mind my username coming up on your blog :), better make some more stuff though......:).
    Maytaurus we had great fun with the diggers thanks- he is up there just now with them again. Cars, trucks, diggers etc are his favourite things.....wonder if there is a pattern anywhere for a knitted truck that I could make the wee man ?
    I am in a good mood this morning, as meeting up with my friend (an avid card maker) for a quick lunch and then might just nip into the wool shop in town for a wee look :).
    Mum is still in hospital, so not so good on that front, but will phone her later and see if the medication is helping.
    Hope the rest of you are well, just getting to know names and stuff so sorry if I missed anything important.

    mataurus re: James Bond cleaning floors :rotfl:got a mental picture of Pierce Brosnan wearing a pinny with a mop in his hand!
    You're right about people not bothering to 'dress up' these days. I like to make some sort of effort even if I'm only going to the local shop, is it the way we were brought up or a mask to face the world? I've been out for dinner where others have been wearing jeans and grubby t-shirts, and it's me that's out of place.
    The spare room, had to clear mine a couple of weeks ago cos we had visitors staying, so the sheds are now full:D.

    SylviaD hope you find your dog, ours have always found us. Same with cats, I've never actually looked for one. One of my dogs was mum's, I always promised her that I would have the dog if anything happened to her, and it wasn't a hardship because the dog's just lovely, westie/jack russell cross, 16 years old and cute as a button. The other is the biggest springer spaniel ever, people getting divorced, dog escaped and strolled into my garden etc. This is his 5th home poor thing, and his last. He weighs 4 1/2 stone and sits on my lap!

    moliere that's a good poem, should frame it and hang it by the front door.

    OrkneyStar there's quite a few patterns for knitted vehicles around, if I come across any I'll try to put in a link.

    Dpixie I've done a few little stockings, but will do more so can't really say how many, so far six.

    love and hugs to everyone x

    Hi everyone. Well, I got on with my chores, did some work on my blog and then, because I was falling asleep at the keyboard, I had to lie down on the sofa and have a snooze! I've just woken up and had a cuppa which has revived me a bit.

    Elaine - those are great patterns.

    SylviaD - hope you find your dog.

    Kinsey - that springer sounds huge! I'm with you about looking tidy when I go out. It's the way I was brought up. My Mum wouldn't let us girls out if we had a hem down on a skirt, a ladder in our tights, or - heaven forbid - our bra straps were showing! When I think how some young girls go out with all their underwear deliberately on show, I wouldn't have dared! Boy, that mental image of Pierce Brosnan in a pinny (and only a pinny?!) is still in my head!

    Shaz - that pattern sounds interesting. Would love it if you would type it up for us. Remember what you started with the hedgies?!!

    Orkney Star - (((hugs))) to your Mum. Hope she is better soon.

    DPixie - you're so right about a little dust in the home. I used to be really fussy until I saw a drawing my DS1 had to do when he was at junior school. They had to draw their family - I was pictured hoovering! It really shocked me that that was how he saw me, so I lightened up from then on! When I told my Mum she agreed with him; she even said she daren't put her handbag down when she visited us, in case I tidied it away! A bit of dust (or even quite a lot) is not so bad. I'm much more relaxed these days!

    Anyway, off to do a bit more on the blog before lunch, then some knitting afterwards.

    Is it the Jean Greenhowe Christmas stockings that everyone is doing?
