evening all...a difficult time in ISOM land as am in the process of decluttering (or ruthlessly emptying!) my flat ready to sell. Am also rehoming my 4 cats and turtle which is heartbreaking and I keep reminding myself that I have my health and incredible support from family and friends...for those who believe in the man upstairs prayers would be appreciated...all relative of course and am very aware from recent posts that it culd be so much worse...No knitting today as been decluttering and not a minute spare...car boot is sat am so am praying for no rain over cardiff!
Are you moving far ISOM? A very stressful time. Take care of yourself.

    Hi everyone.

ISOM - good luck with the de-cluttering. What a shame you have to give up your pets, though. I hope everything works out well for you and that you are in your new home soon.

Chalky - I'm glad my square got there! Don't worry about sending separate photos of my squares - I'll print off the photos of the blankets that you have already posted on here!

If anyone wants a quick easy idea for Christmas pressies, last night I started off a crochet scarf for my Mum, whose birthday is later this month. It's a lovely ruffle pattern that is so easy to do http://www.caron.com/projects/NEWPROJECTS/bliss/85_ruffle_scarf.html It's only five rows of crochet. I'm using a finer yarn than the pattern suggests (in fact, is wool my Mum gave me!) and started with 150 stitches rather than the 100 in the pattern to make it longer. I'm really pleased with it and will be making more for Christmas pressies. I'll use DK for the others (100 stitches would be enough in DK, I think), but I wanted something elegant for my Mum and this is turning out perfect. I'll post a photo when it's done. I'm going to get my Mum's birthday sorted out over the next few days, then get on with some more IS hats and some veg pot warmers to use up all the scraps of wool I have in my now huge stash.

Well, it's pouring with rain right now but we've had about six weeks without rain, so it's desperately needed.

    Anyway, off for another cuppa.

Thanks for the scarf link mioliere, that looks like a useful pattern.

ISOM that's so sad, that you have to give up your pets. Good luck with everything.

    morning all.

well DH is looking better and is walking about after yesterdays migrane, but we never know if he is going to have a single one or a cluster - a whole group of them after one another - so he is at home with me today wanting a nurse for another day!

hope everyone is okay and those not, are on the mend. loving thoughts to all of those who need it.

isom - i am sorry to hear that you are having to rehome your pets - i know how much you love them from the way you spoke about them on the "50p a day" thread. be strong and hopefully you will all be reunited before too long. by the way how are the weezles?

have a lovely, bright, yarn-filled day everyone.

    UPDATE
6 x friendship squares (chalkey - can i still send these to you?)

  • ISOM: So sorry to hear you're having a difficult time at the moment. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you so much to everyone for the support for all of my injured lot :D Alan was going to be moved to a different hospital, but he is doing so well that they kept him at the local one. He is having more scans today and thinks he may be allowed home tonight or tomorrow... maybe wishful thinking though. Carole was supposed to have an operation on her hip yesterday but it was cancelled - is scheduled for today now, so fingers crossed. Mam is doing quite well today - all snuggled up in her fleece blanket as it's so nasty outside, but not cold enough for heating to go on.

Sarah arrived up as expected, but was even better than we thought. She's been wanting to move back out of London for several years and had put Zaki's name down at our local school on a provisional basis. She has decided to stay up now! She is staying with her mam for a few days/weeks and then will rent somewhere until she can buy. Fadi will stay in London until he can get work up here - he manages a hotel and his family live in London too, so no problem with somewhere to stay, and he will travel up weekends etc.

Now for the thing that only my family seem to be capable of.... stupidity  Sarah took Zaki to school for his first day at reception class... and forgot to pick him back up :eek::eek:. The school has a policy of only keeping them for half day for the first couple of weeks, but Sarah swears they never told her this . Came to dinnertime and he hadn't been picked up so the school gave him some dinner and then rang Sarah. The thing is they only live about 5 houses away - don't know what the teachers must think of her :D. Mind you, she was always the darling of the school when she went there, so I'm sure they will forgive her.

Thought I'd actually knit a bunting today, but made 3 mistakes already so am giving up until later.

Take care everyone, and keep warm

  • Afternoon everyone.
Well, after a miserable morning there is now a bit of blue sky and a strange yellow thing in the sky - I think it might be the sun!!
Not sure how long it will last, its still very windy, so I think more rain might follow. But it is good knitting weather.
Hugs to all the poorlies and their loved ones, and to anyone else who wants one.
Might pop back later, but out dancing tonight so no knitting for me till tomorrow.
    Take care.

Hi ladies - have just popped on to run the IS details off - I feel very very guily as I have not been on properly for weeks and so many of you are having difficulties or illness (or I have missed birthdays!!!) - soooo my big apologies to you all, I hope things are improving - happy belated birthday to anyone I have missed - hugs to you all

Also I am a bit concerned as in the past few weeks I sent three parcels - one largish to shezmit - 1x chalky - 1x toys for the stall - I am so hoping they got to their destinations - im not bothered if they have been received but you havent had a chance to say (I know how busy you all are) - shelley normally gives a parcel shout - I only mentioned the other two just to check whether my end something has gone astray!!!

Anyway I will catch up in more detail later - Ive managed two veg pot covers & 1 IS hat in the last few days - so am pleased
Have a great rest of the day - off to finish the cookies (receipe from Economy Gastronomy- great program!)
Hugs to you all Jaqui xx

    Hi everyone

Lorna - what a time you are having with your people. I'm so glad Alan is doing well and hope everything else works out and life settles down for you.

    DPixie - your poor DH.

Well, I've not done a lot. I've been shopping and done some chores, had some lunch and promptly dozed off on the sofa! I've not been sleeping too well and it must have just caught up with me.

Anyway, I'm going to have a cuppa then settle down with some crochet. The weather is pretty gloomy here as well as the UK, so it's ideal for sitting down with something soothing like knitting or crochet.
