I hope all your parcels arrived safely,
I sent one to Elaine for the flower show stall, which I know has sadly been postponed but I still hope my parcel arrived OK
Glad you liked the car made from bread l-o-l
Please try not to feel cross with yourself as panic attacks can be really devastating and a lot of people have no understanding of how much they can affect you
I have a friend who suffered with them for years but she’s a lot better now
I get so frustrated with my health probs & the way they stop me doing things, so I really understand what you mean

I’m sooooooooooooooo glad we haven’t got a naughty corner on the thread
cos I’d be in it all the time
I still haven’t sent my big parcel to shezmit but this time it is because I was waiting for the little teds that need sewing up to arrive from her as I thought I could post them all together
No sign of them yet .... hope they haven’t gone AWOL :rotfl::rotfl:
And I still haven’t had a chance to post all my pics on Wooligans,

Sorry ‘things are a little rough at the moment’ for you
I hope there’s nothing too serious
Glad you enjoyed the applique day

There are lots of free applique patterns here

You’ve done so well with the lovely blankets and the idea for the little lap blanket for Lou at Loving Hands is great
Thinking of lucky you going back to Spain soon though ... I am so jealous ..........
I’m having a rough time myself at the moment and Mums been really bad this week.
I so wish there was something that could be done about the dreadful Alzheimers, it’s such an awful thing to see her being tormented with,
as well as the affect it has on everyone else who loves her,
Especially my wonderful Dad who at 84 yrs has so much to bear and never complains even when you can see how worn out & sad he is.
I’ve just got back from my uncles 60 miles away with DD & DS2
He’s a bachelor, 80 yrs, Mums brother & we are the only family he has
He had an out of hospital cardiac arrest 2 & a half yrs ago, they restarted his heart put him into an induced coma and kept him packed in ice for 2 weeks( a new treatment they were just starting to try out)
He made a full recovery & 6 mths after had to move home as his house was compulsory purchased for regeneration
Now we are hoping to move him closer to us, as of course we are the only ones he has to help him and a 120 mile trip isn’t very good in an emergency etc
He needed a new tv & someone to install it, so we got it online, had it delivered to him & went up to sort things out
OOOps sorry to waffle (in the naughty corner again )

Hi everyone - will be MIA for most of the day today - we've been invited out for lunch (which will save me cooking!) so will catch up late this afternoon.

Chalky - glad you had a good time! I'm wondering if the place is where they have a few units in Bovey Tracey, one of which sells pine furniture? I think it backs on to a park. If so, friends of ours used to live within a few hundred yards of it.

Maytaurus - thanks for a lovely post. A great way to start the day! I love the rectangle cardi; it will be something really simple to do with no shaping. I'll definitely be trying that.

Well, I'd better go and get ready.

Hope you all have a great day and that all the poorly ones are feeling a lot better today.

Great post maytaurus and you would never be in the naughty corner for waffling, because your waffles are always interesting. Rather hard on your uncle to be forced to move at that age, but a bonus all round if he's nearer to you.
  • morning all...thanks as always maytaurus for your lovely, thoughtful post. I cant really say much about general situation at the moment but selling the flat isnt as difficult as I thought and decluttering has been liberating in many ways! The cats are another matter and heartbreaking just about done it. Made 130+ at the car boot and still a few to go! Dotty and poppy are going to mum today and there have already been tears this morning - woke up with her sitting on my chest looking at me...:( Shes bought her squares though and will post off tomorrow. Shawl was given to the recipient yesterday and she loved it as much as I'd hoped - despite the wonky bits - or maybe because of them?!!
church in a mo...hugs all. Great that eye on the mend og and go slow with the sorting miol...

Glad your friend loved the shawl ISOM, after all your hard work. Sorry to hear that things are hard for you at the moment and I hope things become easier soon.
Maytaurus it sounds like you are having hard time too. I hope you manage to sort things out for your uncle.

Just to pre-warn you, the LH has changed colour but everything else appears the same. A few people are having trouble logging in after the site upgrade but mine was fine. Let someone know if you have problems and Pam at LH will try and sort you out. Pam also has a link to some of her artwork she is auctioning for LH which is worth a look as she is obviously a very talented lady.

Maytaurus as usual you are a star---- With all that on your plate you take the time to do such wonderful posts which I know we all so appreciate. If Kathy is the bricks of this thread and Pam is the second man you are definitely the cement. We all miss you so much when you are not able to post but of course realise why and send so many loving thoughts your way.

No offence Kathy thinking of you as a brick and all its conotations. I love bricks actually -- but I meant you have given us the foundations -- Well I hope you
see it as complimentary I would hate to upset a " friend !!!!!! " Hope you have had a lovely day.

    ISOM
Sorry things are so hard but you do sound positive about some of the things so hold tightly to those. As for thepets I am just sending you, like everyone else a big hug!

Kinsey Welcome to the wooligans - I love to see everyones work -- it is all so amazing

--k2tog --Thanks for Mia info-- perhaps I dont see enough action !!
I am a bit wary ofabbreviations as I had two older brothers than me -- 1 seven years and 1 4. They thought it was their bounden duty to fill my head with misnomers and managed often very successfully. The classic example being that they thought I was a funny little girl for picking wild flowers for the childrens graves in the little churchyard near where we lived and they came 1 day and said " Oh yes, RIP means Rise If Possible " Well I was 34 and visiting a grave with a friend when she said Rest In Peace and it struck like a thunderbolt that I had thoight such a thing all my life --- Brothers eh !!!!!

Anyway enough waffling. Well I put the aplique project away last night
for an hour or so then pulled it back out again at about 7.00 and sewed til 1.00 !!! The base part is nearly finished and I will take a photo later when it is. Sewing it made me think of my God Daughter-- The daughter of a NUrsery Nurse who I worked with and who has come to mean a great deal to me . So I am going to turn it into a cushion and give it to her for Christmas.

Now I think we are all getting to know each other a little bit and I often try and picture you all and think about the projects you are knitting. I suppose receiving your squares and seeing and touching your work has made you all seem very real.

Well, I wouldn't be offended if people thought " here Chalky goes -- off on 1 ! "
The first year on here I knitted abou 150 baby hats -- Then there was the teddy addiction and then of course lastly the hedgehog obsession. Pics to prove that --- I used to be the same with chocolate cup cakes and Terrys chocolate Orange !!
Anyway I have a big favour to ask--- I really want to pursue this applique work and although I am not lucky enough to be a Grandma yet I do have some very special little people in my life plus a few big ones !!!! Well I would like to make a few cushions with themes-- The obvious being an underwater theme for sea mad DD2.
The problem is it is almost impossible to get the vintage woollen blankeys. I have tried all the charity shope etc and to no avail. They are the ones that anyone of my age 55 remembers Mum putting on top of the mattress as protectors and always had for the sofa when you were poorly. If anyone does have any lurking and would love to give them a good home I promise I would. Of course I am definitely willing to pay all posatge and packing costs and I thought I could donate £2 to Shelley to help with her postage costs for every one I am lucky enough to receice.
It actually doesnt matter if they are very worn as some are used as the backcloth to sew on to. The need for quite a lot is because you need to dye a lot of blankets ddifferent colours to get the range of shades to make a cushion.

If you have any questions please ask and thanks for reading such a long thread -- naughty corner for me !!
Try and do a good deed every day.

k2TOG--- There were 14 on the course yesterday . 2 of whom said they had not sewn before.
I am sure if you started by going to the library and getting simple books and look on the net for embroidery stitches. You Tube etc etc you would soon find it very restful and relaxing
Practise is the key. I am getting back into trying to make all the stitches even which is the thing that helps to make the finished product look beautiful
I love Blanket stitch -- hours of making the Domestic Science Apron and hat !!!!!!! But the applique work uses oversewing which I want to slant but mustnt.
Get some old material and get going I am sure it will be great
Try and do a good deed every day.
