    hello everyone,
Hope you are all well and the poorlys are feeling better.
I have'nt read through the enormous amount of pages since last Weds but will make a start tomorrow.

Sorry I've not been around for a few days, I had some very sad news last wednesday.

I wont go into too many details but, she was on holiday with the family and her beloved DGS, when she had breathing problems and was taken in to hospital, where they drained her lungs of 2ltrs of fluid, and it all went from there.
She was brought back home to Birmingham and admitted straight into hospital, and was diagnosed with cancer, 2 weeks later she had gone.

We had been friends for over 40 years, we met at anti-natal classes when she was having her DD1 and I was having DS1. That was in 1968.

She will be missed soooo much, she was so kind and such a good soul

I am getting tearful again better go

    :j I`m back folks !!!

Last week has been another one I could have done without
My granddaughter asked if she could look for some information on t`internet on Monday night while I was out (her mum was helping her) for endangered animals and extinct ones. That was fine as she often has to do stuff like that as they don`t have `puter at home. Only snag was......one of the websites they went into `popped up` a rogue message saying that a Trojan had infected the computer and to click here to remove it  which daughter did :eek: only it didn`t remove anything. After that, we couldn`t do anything on the bloomin` thing.

It kept telling me that MSE was a baaaaaaad website and would infect my puter with all sorts of nasties ---as if !!!! Loving Hands was just as BAD !!!! etc etc etc.........

Upshot was I have spent all this week - off and on - trying to get rid of the invader. This is still the borrowed lappy I`m using, as I`m STILL fighting with Tis---i because I can`t get broadband on my desktop. After numerous emails flying back and forth I still don`t have it.
Apparently the modem I have is incompatible with Vista -in my recently repaired computer. According to them, I`ll have to upgrade my package or buy a router - both options would involve extra cost

Funny, I`ve been getting broadband with that computer running Vista for the past TWO YEARS - so what`s going on guys ?????

Well, I was told that they would send me an up to date CD to install which should get me back on broadband, but I`m not sure when. The guy said 2-4 days (5 days ago) but his accent was very strong and he MIGHT have said 224 days  ??

Anyway, rant over, I managed to get rid of the `bug` in this one and it gets broadband as it`s running XP !! Success.:T

Have read through this weeks posts and some of you have had even bigger problems than me. Big (((hugs ))) to those who need them and congratulations to those celebrating birthdays and new arrivals.

fi widow and Kinsey - I`m sorry I didn`t acknowledge your parcels on here. I did a parcel shout on the LH forum (25th Aug I think) and meant to mention it here as well but I forgot :o Sorry and thank you.
Maytaurus - your parcel came on the Saturday morning not long before we left but with all the shenanigans taking place I forgot to let you know as well. Sorry and thank you as well.

I`ve managed to arrange an alternative venue for the 31st October -INDOORS - so I think I`ll be doing some Christmas things to add to the sales table. We won`t be doing a tombola as the Cat`s protection people, who are organising the craft / charity fair, are doing that along with their bottle stall.
Phew, I`ve run out of breath now so I`ll toddle off and have a squint through my patterns for something suitable to knit, and hope there`s something good on telly to watch. I`ll get to watch what I like tonight as the young`uns are both out and the dogs sleep all evening anyway - unless they need out for .........................!

It`s good to be back among friends - I`ve missed you all.

Pippa.S - crossed posts - EXTRA BIG ((((HUGS)))) for you.

  • Sorry no update this weekend, but I will try harder for next week. It was bramble jam yesterday and today as a special request lemon curd. Some of the windfall apples from last week now hide as apple jelly - and I did catch up with more of the tomatoes and they are packed away too - I shall be glad when the free harvest is over, mind you next up will be the chestnuts
Glad the car boot went well - I have never been to one so perhaps next time I am in the UK I should investigate them.
Loved your post again Maytaurus, thinking of your dear mum and the travails you all have to undertake.
Anne, good to see you back but what news, didn't make the PO last week so posting tomorrow for you.
Elaine, bet your glad that horrid weather has passed now - boy did you get a storm!
Shall see what I can rustle up for the christimas fair then and get it away to you.
Love and prayers and big cuddles to everybody -
    Jean

White is not a problem for anything you are going to send to preemies uk - our Shezmit on here, it's just that some other charities send things abroad and white is apparently a colour of mourning so not appropriate for children's cardies etc. White/ cream are great for any of the things on the pattern page here, as are any pastel colours.

    Good to see you here!
