Chalky :rotfl:re your brothers! Are they still as entertaining?
I might have a bit of a bash at some more fine work like some applique but better not start until the wool mountain is a bit reduced or it'll be smacked wrists for me! I think I know the sort of blankets you mean but don't have any. I'll keep my eye on the charity shops.
Think extending the run is a good idea Shez - I hadn't really thought about the fact that a lot of the hats you get are the super-stretchy not tea cosy or flap hats so that total is pretty adrift. I'll try to do more of both of those - I certainly need practice at the flap hats!
  • Hi may I ask what pattern you want to be used for the gowns and wraps please?

    Good afternoon everyone!

Here I am, well – Thursday’s trip out was fun, I was very good, apart from refreshments my only spend was in Hobbycraft  I coveted some beautiful wools and a book of Estonian Lace patterns (still full price so I left it) and ended up buying a pair of needles for 29p that’s it!
I spent a couple of hours with the lady who visits Mum each week then met up with Pamspal for a late lunch – very MSE she had a voucher for PizzaExpress – 2 pizza for £10 – it was lovely!

Friday disappeared in its usual higgledy piggledy fashion – Mum was on good form again, traffic a nightmare both ways – doubled my journey time and quite stressful so when I got in and settled with a cuppa I fell asleep, only waking when the dog decided she could wait no longer for her tea!

Yesterday I made a Bolognese and my brother + PamsPal and her DH came over and we polished off the lot with some lovely herby bread, plus lemon meringue pie and a fruit flan for afters. We then watched Dark Knight (the latest batman movie) – all in all a great evening!

ISOM your car boot did well - stay strong – ((hugs))!

Maytaurus, thanks for your pm – much appreciated! Wonderful post again, I love it when I wake up to your messages! Ta! ((hugs)) to you and especially your Mum, Dad and your Uncle.

F1widow – well done!:j What an achievement – so glad you were able to make it!

Chalky – so pleased you had a good day appliqu!-ing! I hope you have calmer waters for a while! I’ll keep my eyes open for wool blankets!

Mioliere – watch the vin roug – you know what it does to you!

Roamin’ how’s the jam turned out – what flavour is it ? My favourite is blackcurrant but I also like strawberry, especially with scones and cream.

Heldun, welcome back, autumn evenings are great for knitting aren’t they, especially if you can catch some late sun.

OnlyGirl – don’t worry about your DS – he’ll adjust in no time at all! ((hugs))

Shezmit – I think extending your challenge is a good idea, will have a go at some boobs – I’ll try the pattern I found a while ago, (if I can find it again) and maybe some mini stockings.

K2Tog – hiya – you might have to help me out with flappy hats – I always go straight to the stretchy pattern – are they easy?

OOOPS - its turned into a saga - better close now!

((hugs)) For anyone who needs them

    luv

  • Thanks for all your kind posts...there are positives and people, including you lot, have all been incredible. Despite difficult times I am thankful for my strong faith and the promises of a wonderous things to come. I have also got much closer to people and even those who thought I couldnt get closer to! Mum just left with poppy & dotty and all of us rying. Had a good blub but just cos I'll miss them but I know they will be much loved. The other two will go on 23rd and its a good staged goodbye to my life now iykwim. Life definately has begun at 40 lol!
Chalky can you let me have your address please so I can send squares.
Having said previously that I could do the baby wraps found out (while in car boot que) for 2 hours yesterday!) that a friend had a miscarriage and would love to think that she had been able to have that so will do some with a different frame of mind as long as I have right wool...am banned from all but essential purchases.
Hugs maytaurus...on top of being poorly thats alot to deal with. Alzheimers is a cruel disease isnt it...my granny got very lost before she died and its awful to witness and you can never not compare the old and new can you....

Here's the pattern for the "flap hats"
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/content/articles/2006/04/18/ventilator_bonnet_feature.shtml
It will be a piece of cake for you I am sure! I got in a bit of a pickle withe sewing up (think I sewed too much together) but it's straight forward.
    This

is the boob pattern I use and I find it quite quick - so it must be OK! Top tip - cast on a bit loosely which will make all the increases easier.

Sorry me again the reason for asking Shezmit the fair question was that I have for some time realised that I have sooooo much card making stuff enough to make cards for ever!!!! so have decided that if I can I would like to make some to give for people like shelley to sell for her cot+postage fund - if anyone else has postage etc funds needed and are selling anything and would like some cards let me know or if anyone can suggest anything would be appreciated - and please dont feel guilty asking!!!!

I cant promise how many I can make but if I know who needs them & some timescales it would be appreciated xx
