  • THE FOLLOWING IS THE ENTRY ON LOVING HANDS FROM ELAINE ABOUT THE ABERDEEN FLOWER SHOW - NOW RENAMED -HURRICANE BILL.

    I`m sooooo sorry everyone.

After many of you sending donations for the LH stall, we weren`t able to have it. icon_sad.gif

First off, we found some of the poles / fittings for the gazebo were missing. Obviously the guys who last used it didn`t put everything back, and of course I didn`t check it. I think some of my bits must have been put in with the other gazebos they were using by mistake – haven`t been able to contact them to find out yet. Son in law went back to my house to get the smaller one, which we managed to erect but it was so windy that it almost took off. Poor Mag was holding on to a pole as the whole thing blew over – shades of Mary Poppins there. The gazebo next to us blew over while the two girls were away getting their stuff out of their car as they hadn`t pegged it down. Talk about the windy city – San Francisco had nothing on Aberdeen today. icon_rolleyes.gif

By this time I was so angry, frustrated and disappointed, feeling I had let everyone down, especially Mag, Alana and Lou that I was nearly in tears and had to take myself off to my car where I indulged in a massive swearing session. icon_evil.gificon_mad.gificon_evil.gif I don`t normally indulge in that sort of thing but today was the last straw.

So, I`ll hang on to everything for the moment and try to find an alternative venue – indoors. Moira (who donated all the pet blankets and little jumpers) told us about a craft sale run by the local cats protection people which takes place in a few weeks time, so if there`s nothing else before then, we might try that.

Such a disappointment after all the work involved.

    Elaine.

Oh, Elaine, what a shame. I'm sure no-one thinks you have let them down. It certainly wasn't your fault. I can understand the frustration and how you must have felt. You have been through such a lot lately, haven't you? Nothing will go to waste because I'm sure the right venue will turn up and, as people's thoughts turn to Christmas, the sale will be a great success. You may even have collected even more things to sell by then! Please keep us informed about the date of any potential craft sale.

Jean - good luck for your DH at the dentist. I shouldn't think he will be missing the seaside rock - he might have broken even more teeth! I bought loads of cards back from the UK - when you can get such bargains in the Card Factory that are so much better than the French, it makes sense to stock up. I can't believe how horrific some of the cards are here - and how much they want you to spend on them! I've made most of mine for birthdays this year and I have a big stock of Christmas cards from previous years, so I should be alright until our next trip.

Well, I'd better get on with the chores. Will see you all later.

  • aww huge hugs elaine....what a dissapointment for you and in no way have you let anyone down! I am a firm believer in things happening for a reason ...maybe the next stall will be more productive than this will ever have been (esp if horrible weather!) and you'll sell even more!! What counts is he love and effort you put in...
On the same note I wonder where you find local crafty fairs? Was debating doing bits to sell but not sure where to start...any ideas?

Oh Elaine, after all your hard work. But if you find a craft stall indoors you might make more money, especially with halloween and christmas coming up fast! Have you got enough things or would you like more?
