I guess everyone's busy tonight - smokin' needles & hooks all over the country!

I have all the bits for the baby dragon - its stuffed and just waiting for ears & spines to be (sshh) sewn on - saving that joy for daylight & fresh eyes so that they stand a chance of being neat:rotfl:

Part way through a little cream teddy bear - head, nose & body done - going to start an arm when I've done here! Fingers are suffering a bit because of working dk yarn with a small hook - I hope the end result is worth it. My problem is - if they're nice I want to keep them - if not so good the dog gets them - she thinks they're all for her and throws a full sulk if I put them on the shelf.

Maytaurus - great to see you back - I sooo enjoy your posts, Some lovely links again - ta!

Kathy - hope you've recovered from your shock, those electric fences are "a pain" aren't they - I touched one when I was young and have avoided them ever since!

Well done Onlygirl - ingenious fish pond!

Psso - do you want another kitchen to blitz - you're welcome to come & do mine - plus I can find a bit????????? of ironing:eek: (Ann - I've enough for you too) if you fancy it.

DON79 - I think I'd use knots as well, though the join gives a lovely smooth finish for special knits.

Right - I've finished my drink - back to the crochet,

    luv

Hi all, looks like just you and me about Pam.
I've been looking for an elusive pattern for my Aldi wool - I'll know it when I see it :D and starting to knit a preemie gown which I have never done before. I'm not convinced I'm doing the patterny bit right but the pics aren't very close up so can't be sure. Not sure which bits get sewn together at the end (not that I'm there yet) so Shelley may get a gown in need of finishing because I think when I did the flap hats I think I sewed the wrong bits together :o.
Sure is a learning experience here!
Another couple of rows and off to bed - my lack of beauty sleep is becoming very obvious.

Good morning everyone. Up early today which I'm pleased about because I feel as if I have lost a few days. After yesterday's plumbing 'fun' we finally had the water back on at about 6.30pm; I cooked the dinner and, as soon as we had finished eating, our neighbours knocked the door. We store their caravan in one of our barns (they have a modern bungalow with no outbuildings), and they are going away in it later this week, so we helped them tow it out and onto their drive, then we had the inevitable couple of beers out in the garden, improving our French and their English, while their two gorgeous daughters sat at the table eating ice lollies. The lady has been told that if she improves her English she will get a payrise, so I was able to give her a couple of English grammar books and some old magazines in English (one about writing and two called French Property News!) , which she was thrilled to bits with.

Today, I shall start organising for when we go away, although the actual date has not been finalised. With DIL due on Saturday, the ferry is booked with the option of changing the dates, so we will just wait for 'the' phone call and set off then. It's going to be a last minute thing but I want to be as ready as possible.

Our friends who run a fish and chip van (which is getting busier and busier) have obtained permission to take it to a village about fifteen minutes from here. It will be placed next to a bar run by an Australian couple who have been out here for ten months. They already have fifty people booked for the first fish and chip night, which is tonight. DH and I are taking orders, which should be fun! The village is gorgeous; the bar is next to a lovely river, and the couple have a huge garden in which they've set up petanque, basket ball and lots of other things. We went to see it all on Sunday and fell in love with the place. The setting is wonderful and you can hire genuine Romany caravans pulled by horses which take you all round the village. (It was the horses for these caravans that were in the field that I 'electrocuted' myself in!). Anyway, we are looking forward to 'working' tonight in return for a free fish and chip supper, so no cooking for me today!

I have had no after effects from the electric shock, so thanks to all those who were worried. It will teach me to check in future! The horse forgave me too; poor thing, it wasn't his fault I was stroking him at the same time! It was a huge Shire horse and he almost bolted when the shock went from me to him, but he let me stroke him again straight after. There were several horses there - the others kept a safe distance from me!

Anyway, no knitting last night but I hope to get some done this afternoon. I shall try and do a couple of hedgies for Elaine's fundraising stall.

ISOM - loved the Simon's cat site. I've emailed the link to my DS2 and DIL - they have a gorgeous cat called Colin and will really appreciate the humour!

I've just had an email from Fave Crafts with this free to download e-book of crochet patterns http://www.favecrafts.com/master_images/Crochet/Quick-and-Thrifty-Crochet-eBook.pdf and some more free e-books here http://www.favecrafts.com/index.php/hct/Free-Craft-eBooks. There are some lovely ideas - baby items, toys, dog coats and so on. It's a good site and well worth signing up for the emails.

I will try and get the update done today, so thanks for all your totals. Lots more things to add this week! Pam, if your offer still stands, I'd be really grateful if you would take over the updates until I come back from the UK; you're such a star!

Well, I shall have a browse around on here with another cuppa before I have a shower.

Hope you all have a great day and I'll call back later.

Hi Maytaurus - the heart is lovely, isn't it? I'm sure it would go down well for fundrasing. It's also ideal for using up odds and ends of wool.

I hope you have a good day today.

    Morning all
Kathy, your life sounds idyllic at the moment - apart from the plumbing parts! I am just very grateful we have some sun here for a change as it's so much easier to get things done.
Have gone wrong with the gown I am trying to knit. I thought I had followed the instructions correctly but I do not have a picot edge, I have an eyelet row. Not sure what to do with it as have almost finished the skirty bit but the bottom is wrong because of the edging. I get quite frustrated when I can't seem to follow patterns correctly and I dream about being able to do what some of the clever peeps on here can do like converting patterns between needle types and resizing using MATHS. Hey ho, I knew I wasn't a natural knitting talent :D.
Sunny, pleasant days to all x
