K2tog - Up until about 3 months ago I didn`t know either, although I DID wonder why there was a small square bit like a door down near the bottom of the machine . Just as well `his nibs` had to clear it for me then or I`d have been clueless today !!! I`ve put the cash in my spare change jar and it will eventually go into the bank (disguised by the other coins I hope as it`s all a bit discoloured - might have been there since last time :D )

Good to hear you`re on the hat now, it`s a pretty little set isn`t it ?
I`ve been doing a jumper, man size, for LH. I get fed up after a bit so swap onto a hat or something for a change - short attention span me - but it`s chunky wool so shouldn`t take tooooo long to do.

Not in the mood for knitting now so off to get a cuppa and have a look for some more patterns - as if I need any more

Have finished the gown and hat :j.
The edging looks really good - Lord knows what it would have looked like without explanations for me! It really was quite easy knitting so may do another soon. So tiny though :(.
Have been surfing off and on looking for something to do with my Aldi DK. The Argyle type top I posted the link for the other day needs chunkier wool than DK so I think that will have to go on the back burner for now. I've got quite a bit of it and want to make a dent in it but a bit stuck for ideas. Going to look for a Dk slipover for LH men and something for me I think. Slipovers mainly seem to be bulkier wool and the pattern for me will be a know-it-when-I-see-it :rotfl:
Elaine I have been bad. I realised I didn't have any hedgie spikes so had it in my head to get some when I went out today but I forgot. I'm not going to get a chance to do anything before going away on Thursday for a couple of weeks. Apologies and best of luck with the stall which I hope you got the go-ahead for today.
    Boinnng, time for bed.
    Night all x

Hi everyone. Didn't get a chance to come back on last night. We were helping our friends with their fish and chip van, the first time at a new site for them. What a night! We were literally rushed off our feet. It meant some people had to wait a long time for their food but everyone was patient (well, almost everyone but I can't argue in French so I just smiled sweetly and gave them one of their famous shrugs back!) The food went down really well with the Brits and the French, who love our good old British fish and chips, and the scampi went down well, too. The French needed to have it explained to them first, though! The setting was wonderful; the people who own the bar had turned their garden into a fantastic outside restaurant and people stayed for hours just drinking in the atmosphere. There were lots of children, too, but the petanque and basketball net kept them fully occupied all evening. We finally got back home at about 12.30 and I found two €50 notes in my back pocket! I'm cross about it really because we said we would help in return for supper only, so I shall be having words with her later! We actually had scampi and chips which was brilliant.

She's just phoned to say thanks to us for helping and that they had their best night ever, so a success all round.

Anyway, enough waffle. I managed to finish one hedgie for Elaine's fundraising yesterday, and another one is half done on the needles. They'll be half French, half British because the snout is in wool from the UK, and the body is the wool I bought over here a couple of weeks ago! Elaine - what is the cut-off date for the items for the stall?

Well, I'd better go and get some chores done.

Hope everyone is well and that you all have a great day.

    Morning :hello:

Did'nt get chance to come back in yesterday ended up going over to my friends Jo's house(she lost her OH last year) to take her birthday pressy and card, and she asked us if we would drop her off at her sons place, which we did no probs but we got back latish so OH never went to snooker  and I never got to my friends house for a couple or three ;)

Never mind I did a couple of heddgies and a tiny ted so had a good evening really.

Thanks to you all for your good wishes, it really will be a day to remember

ISOM - yes you are right it takes a very long time almost 2 years and is a minefield, DS2 and DIL had to go to group meetings (amongst other things) with lots of other couples who wanted to adopt, but so many give up because of the length of time it takes. It is such a shame but the other side of the coin is everyone is properly checked. We had to have CRB checks done so that we could baby-sit so now we are official baby-sitters yippee :j

Elaine - my WM usually gets stuck up with screws and bra wires ;) never find any cash though:rotfl:

Kathy - sounds like you had a great if busy time yesterday, nice to know your friends are doing so well with the Fish & Chip van good luck to them :T

Better go I got loads to do, so what else is new  such a pain gets in the way of more important things like.... knitting, crochet, surfing etc :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Pippa - it's such a shame that some people give up on the adoption process, isn't it? Your DS and DIL have done really well to get through the minefield, but I do understand that the checks have to be made when you think how precious children are. I can't wait to hear more and more about your DGS - he has lots of aunties here who wish they could meet him (and you!) and give him (and you!) a cuddle!
